After looking at their etsy site, I wish I'd kept that old butterfly chair from the attic, or at least sold it for more than five bucks at a yard sale.

I agree with adding a skirt to the sink (changing the vanity is much too much work) and painting. Black may have design appeal, but stay away from very dark colors because they'll suck the light right out. A warm color would be flattering, if you plan on putting on makeup or doing your hair in the bathroom. I also think a light blue-green would look great with the yellow and tan tiles.

I suggest a clear shower curtain to make the space appear larger and allow more light in from the window. If you're sharing with a roommate or are otherwise concerned for modesty, I've recently seen some shower curtains with a clear portion at the top and an opaque portion at the bottom, or there are some that are textured.
