Love all the eclectic touches. I see anthropologie items everywhere. Maybe she's lucky enough to work there or has a friend that does. She also talks about buying her home on a budget 8 years ago. Circumstances may have changed since then. Anyway, lovely home.

I think the kitchen renovation is beautiful. As far as the size goes, the camera angle makes it look bigger than it is. I think they were right to want a bigger island that a family can sit around. We have an island in our kitchen as well as a large table and chairs and 90 % of our meals are eaten around the island.

The style of the kitchen is a slightly updated version of a Victorian kitchen. The range reminds of the old hearth that was discovered in that hidden kitchen in Wales. So I think it is pretty classic. The marble is beautiful.

The two pillars are a bit much. But that's just decoration. You can see the kitchen that the designer was inspired by on her pinterest account and it includes objects like this and also the stools which I prefer in the inspiration kitchen. I also think that the pendants are a little small but pretty nonetheless.

I believe the designer is a regular contributor to AT and has had a number of her own designs featured including the granny office that was so pilloried and the recent bathroom remodel with the pink faucet. I think this is a good way to get her designs out there, but boy she must have very thick skin. Personally I love her designs.

Lovely home. So much character. Especially love the mix of the dark and light trim, best of both worlds.

My guess would be that Granny doesn't live there anymore. I also think that the cords are taped to the back of the table, run down the leg, and plug in behind the yellow bag. Nothing mysterious about that. Personally I like the room much better now, maybe when I'm older I'll prefer the before. The floor doesn't bother me. Oak floors are stained lots of colours and it's not a sacriledge to choose a different shade.

Wow, thanks for mentioning my boys' room. But the link isn't working. Here's the link http://www.ohdeedoh.com/ohdeedoh/small-kids-big-color-2010/roman-callums-cool-britannia-bedroomsmall-kids-big-color-entry-5-131125

I think it's lovely, and I'm sad that it's too late to vote. I love the pops of red, yellow and navy around the room, and how you incorporated all of those colours on the little stool cover. So sweet.

I remember when I entered last year I got a few of those "not feeling it" votes and felt a little sad and miffed at the same time. I think the later you enter, the more votes you get. You'll probably notice that later in the competition, so really don't take the low positive votes to heart.

Stephanie, I've been on your interior design website/blog where I have seen your home and this is a surprising and bold departure from the rest of the house. What made you decide on this theme?

I think being a late entry into the competition and having only one picture of the room really thwarted your chances of winning.

I think this room is serene, sophisticated and beautiful. From what I see here you are a very talented interior designer. I would love to see more of your work. Do you have a portfolio?

I'm surprised this didn't get more votes also. This was in my top 3 (not including mine); along with Sara's Smoke, Citron & Cream and Bernrds Red Eclectic Room. I love the molding, the juxtaposition of the fabulously elegant chandelier with the rustic wood table & furniture, and the bold use of grey.

Oops, sorry, tell your daughter she did a fantastic job, and judging by the votes her hard work is paying off. Good luck!

mauishopgirl - this is definitely the decal from Etsy, I think the comment earlier about it taking a week to paint was tongue-in-cheek.

Love the Orla Kiely wallpaper, and how you've managed to bring the 3 colours from it into the 2 adjacent rooms (teal walls in living room, off white paint in stairway, oatmeal curtains). Well done!

I have a telephone booth door (cupboard) in my boys' bedroom too. Yours looks way better than mine though. I used a decal from Target. You can see pictures of it here http://backonfestiveroad.blogspot.com/search/label/boys%20bedroom

I also love the fake logs, I may have to steal that idea. I'm about to check out your blog, I'm sure I'll be there a while :)

I have the exact same unpainted moulding and floors in my home in the main living area, and painted white in the kitchen & baths. I've always wanted to use the Orla Kiely wallpaper, but forgot about it for a while. Looks great in your home, I might have to reconsider it.
Your home has tonnes of personality and looks very well loved. Oh, and we have cassettes too, and betamax video tapes. But we are significantly older than you, and the hubby can't seem to part with them, even though he can't play them.

Love how quirky and unmatching everything is. You're lucky to have such gorgeous bones to work with (herringbone floors, tall ceilings, fabulous mouldings). You've done a good job at creating a visually interesting and impactful room without it looking too busy or formulaic. Love.

Christina - It's a mexican pine desk from a local store in Salt Lake that used to sell imported pine furniture. It weighs an absolute tonne, but it has a really large work surface which is nice. I originally painted the bottom in black and left the top natural. When I redid the office earlier this year I decided to paint the bottom white and the top grey. The knobs are from anthropologie.

Suzanne's "Summer Breeze" Room

The paint color is a modified Behr Manhattan Mist. I originally chose the paint from a swatch. Big mistake. Especially with grey. Once I had painted a wall, I realized that it was more lilac or baby blue (can't remember which) than what I wanted. So I took the can to Home Depot and they added some brown. It still looks lilac or blue in some light.
