There is NO "Appropriate TV" for a child's room. Period.

Grace -
Be a Sweetie, and compile a list of websites for watching TV on the computer - other than your basic HULU, CBS, etc., etc. That would be really useful. Thanks!

Honesty. Simplicity. Downsizing (or, better, "rightsizing"). A return to financial sanity.

To quote Thoreau:

Our houses are such unwieldy property that we are often imprisoned rather than housed by them.

Most of the luxuries and many of the so-called comforts of life are not only not indispensable, but positive hindrances to the elevation of mankind.

Money is not required to buy one necessity of the soul.

That man is rich whose pleasures are the cheapest.

Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves.

Never look back unless you are planning to go that way.

And Sir Winston Churchill:

Out of intense complexities, intense simplicities emerge.

Hopefully, much good will eventually emerge from our current world economic crisis. Windwolf

Surely you folks at "Re-Nest" can come up with a better list of links for Connie. Connie - yes, you can live comfortably in 400 sq. ft. Think large sailboat! Your 400 sq. ft. would be quite a yacht! Try these:

Serious Question:

I love some of the new charging stations beginning to hit the market - BUT - (1) is it good to leave all your chargers plugged in ALL the time - (2) do they draw power when they are just sitting there - and (3) is it ok to leave the "chargee" in the "charger" after it has "charged" for days on end?

I dumped Norton a few months ago and put on AVAST!, which is free for non-commercial users and updates automatically every time I boot up. It is very fast. Norton is terribly slow. Get rid of it.
Also I do a disk cleanup and defragment just about every day. That, too, helps bunches.
To quickly find your RAM - go to "all programs, accessories, system tools, system information" and then look for "total physical memory" - that is your RAM. VISTA really wants at least 2 Gigs.

Curtis -
I assure you it's VISTA! I'm on roadrunner too. Right now (even as we speak) I have my old backup 2002ish Gateway with XP Home, and a new 2008 Acer with Vista Home Premium, and a recently reactivated 2006 Gateway with XP Professional all hooked up to the internet. In order of speed in loading web sites - XP Home and XP Pro are virtually identical and lightning fast. Vista is friggin' slower than molasses in January! VISTA IS CRAPOLA! I'm seriously considering going back to XP Pro too. "If it ain't broke don't fix it". XP Is FAR more user friendly. I don't have a clue to what Microsoft was thinking when they created the monster Vista!

I'm truly sorry, but I far prefer the "before" to the "after".
The "after" is very cluttered and really boring. To me, the "before" has some cool character, color, and looks cozy. Why did you hide the fireplace?

I have had two of these. Seemed like a good idea. One lasted ALMOST a full week! The other, maybe two or three days! This is a pile of crapola. It is so poorly made that it is not worth what it is made out of! Do not waste your money. IT IS JUNK!

Norton or McAfee?

I have 2 pc laptops that I use every day. One came with Norton and one came with McAfee. I find them both equally effective and equally annoying. The one with Norton seems to take for bloody ever to bootup. And I do disk cleanups and defrag at least once a day.

Apartment Therapy - Good Question: Norton vs. McAfee?

I'm hoping that this is a countdown until all current editors are required to have read and understood Maxwell's earliest posts from 2004 under "Apartment Therapy on ...." in the archives.

I'm further hoping that this will mark the end of "reposts".

And I'm really hoping that his will mark the end of posting the same info on all the AT sites.

And I'm REALLY hoping to see a return to the "therapy" part of this site with less emphasis on insanely expensive design porn.

I have a set of hammered solid silver cups from Thailand. Is it safe to drink from them? If so, how should they be cleaned? Would the silver chemically react with wines, etc? Can they be sealed? I'm tired of not using them, as they are very beautiful. Thanks.
