Adore those dining room chairs! Where are they from?

Lovely home, and my favorite kind of tour on AT - achievable and inspirational.

Yeah, my friends are always complaining that my home is "too academic." :)

Neat house tour.

Beautiful home, but what's with the terrible photos? Every one of them is so washed out and overexposed, it looks like this family lives inside a solar flare.

An awesome marketing idea, maybe. Paper tag + nifty logo + twine + stuff from grandma's attic, sell it for $19.

It's better than the rabbit fur tea cozy, I guess. And no, I will not let that go.

If you like them enough to decorate your entire office around them, just embrace them and go full-on Mad Men.

I'm not sure you're going to achieve "soft" with these pieces as your base. Why not aim for "warm" or "bright," which you could achieve through vivid artwork, graphic print curtains, or a lush shag rug under that table.

The light wood in your table will make it tough to go with a vintage mid century desk, which tend to have orange tones in the wood. I also wouldn't go with a glass top desk, which would be cold, cold, cold. You could go vintage steel, like this baby: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=121086831791&item=121086831791&lgeo=1&vectorid=229466

This is one of my favorite houses ever, and one of my favorite tours. Thank you, AT, for putting together a tour that actually feels like a tour through the space. The layout was easy to understand, and you switched between room shots and close ups in a way that made sense.

Love the house - the colors, the openness. I may have to bring out the all caps - I LOVE IT!

Absolutely stunning. Looks like the home of an Ayn Rand character.

I really appreciate the respect for the house's original design, and how cohesive the vision is. It's not my personal taste, but it's simply gorgeous. I feel like the phrase "not my personal taste" is often used in a backhanded compliment, and that's not my intention. I truly adore this house, even if I wouldn't buy it or live in it. I am so glad to know someone else does, and has done such a fantastic job decorating it! One of my favorite house tours, ever.

Either an early April Fool's joke, or Maxwell is getting some sort of financial kickback for endorsing it.

I don't care to have an argument about whether this is ethical, but more importantly, it is not sensible, not attractive, and not necessary, so I can only assume it's been created for shock value. Furthermore, if you're claiming something so frivolous as a tea cozy for up to $34 (!!) as "have-to-have-it," you really have lost your way.

Apartment Thereapy started as an alternative to the ridiculous, glossy design magazines that promoted a lifestyle out of reach of the rest of us. It may seem silly to talk about an interior design blog as having a mission, but AT really did. It claimed that everyone had the right to enjoy a beautiful, healthy home, and that living consciously is living richly, no matter how much space or money you have.

As "jump the shark" is to TV shows, I'm afraid "rabbit fur tea cozy" is going to be to Apartment Therapy.

Hi fellow Ashevillian!

Is the Corona for perfume or for sipping? Like the headboard.

Just lovely. It's traditional without seeming dated. I particularly love the little sofa nook - it's perfect.

I admire how much they were able to fit in a 500 square foot house, and it seems like a fun place to stay for vacation (maybe not with all 6 beds occupied for a month...). To really make it livable for me, you would have to remove 30% of everything in every room, including the beds. There is just too much to look at, my eye has nothing to rest on. I actually love their aesthetic - it's cozy, unpretentious, cottage-y. It's just that there is too much of it.

I adore this. It's so funny, though, to see the rooms categorized by warm and cool. I understand that greens are on the cool side of the color wheel, but everything about this room screams "warm" to me. The light, the yellows in that shade of green, the lush plants...

What a weird architectural choice. But you can definitely make it work. Go cozy - bookshelves that look built-in, a dark, rich paint color or wallpaper.

Also, think about what's going to go on top of it and next to it. Right now it looks very random and tacked-on. Is there a lofted space on top? Could you make one? Or maybe just plants, sculpture, or a table with some height. Something to tie it in to the rest of the room. Good luck!

Although. I'm not sure this is a cool room. Yes, it's green, but everything about it seems warm to me.
