Wow! I'm a grandparent and I bought my first computer in 1981 and engaged in a crude form of email via a phone line connected to my computer, too. I know these are anecdoctal stories about some people's grandparents, but many people in the 60-90 -year old age range are very familiar with computers and technology in general. You'll ALWAYS put the toilet lid down if you ever watch a certain episode of MythBusters! This episode showed how spray from flushing the toilet lands all over things in the rest of the bathroom.
