Why can't mum get some lovely electronic goodies for Mother's day? How about something like a drill for all those household fixing jobs that mum does or a new computer, iPad and TV just for mum? That's what I want. :)

Why didnt I think of doing this when my kids were small? I wish I had. The drawings are beautiful and the message to the kid (whose day might or might not be going well) is of love and encouragement. Imagine that you were a kid and you opened your lunch box and saw the cute friendly drawing -- how could you not be cheered by that? It's wonderful and thoughtful and loving and all the good things a child might just be in need of during the school day.

Currently I live on the 25th floor -- my first thought on these highrises was: hmm... hope the elevators are good! Once you are in the condo, you could be anywhere so being there is OK but the problems arise in trying to get out of the condo (fire) or some other disaster -- and trying to get to your condo (see reference to elevators). Who wants to climb 300 floors when something happens to dearly departed elevator? Also am thinking of a. pets and then maintenance of public spaces and b. soundproofing. All factors are my major bugbears at the moment!

I like these recipes and ideas even though I'm not busy in the evenings or a mom. I like to sit in the lounge and nibble on finger foods and these fit the bill wonderfully -- and if you want seriously retrograde, try dressing your female child in anything other than pink or purple or your male child in anything other than blue or the occasional grey! At least the food is adaptable to multiple situations! :)

Ear plugs! The best. I can hear just enough with them in for life-saving purposes (i.e. the alarm clock and the fire alarm) and not the annoying sounds that would otherwise keep me awake.

In my ideal world I'd like an app that will capture my printed recipes from years ago and read them the same way that the online recipes can be read. i.e. organize recipes in different ways /categories and provide shopping lists. Is there such an app? I have four binders of printed recipes that I'd LOVE to make electronic!

I grew up in South Africa and had a huge garden to play in and wander around and so I am always in favour of the slightly wild, little bit unkempt style of garden with secret places made by trees and bushes and flowers coming together... just like how I imagine the Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
Neat, polished and groomed to within an inch of its life just does not appeal to me. I can see its beneficial and zen qualities but it doesn't resonate.

Project that I would like to do is get rid of TV in living room. This doesnt sound like a big deal but the TV is of the old type and very heavy and therefore requires co-operation of a strong friend / relative to help. Difficult to co-ordinate schedules -- so it has been sitting useless on its shelf for a year now!

I love Ner li Ner li dakik and mi y'malel gvorot israel and Hanukkiah li yesh and Maoz Tzur -- (my fave) and I am afraid that I am old fashioned in that I like the traditional melodies that I learned in Israel.
