Can I say that I am GREEN with envy? I live in the centre of the city and this is such a beautiful and peaceful contrast. WOW!!!! I love your creativity and sense of place. Most impressive.

My no.1 strategy for keeping my small space organized is to be very strict with myself when shopping -- nothing can come in unless an equal amount goes out. If I buy a lamp for example, something else of equal size and prominence in the room must go. If it is not possible to get rid of something then sorry to me, no alternative, no shopping! Bank appreciates what gets collected in my account (where the same principle does NOT apply :) )

In my view: A timeless dustcatcher (yet ANOTHER thing to dust).

I love my IPAD2. I use it all the time for anything I can think of -- Facebook, apps, radio, whatever else is offered. It's the best thing since the internet was invented. Now whether I'll invest in the new one, not at this time... I think I can manage a few more years with 2 before going on to 6 or 7 or even 8. Will depend on a. budget and b. the lure of new things that one might be able to do... very hard to resist.

I have found that simply putting a "NO JUNK MAIL" sticky note in my mailbox at my condo has cut down HUGELY on unwanted mail. Now I get nothing that doesn't actually have my name on it and out of that only two or three pieces of mail of 20 are junk! So cut down there on clutter.
Have also instituted the policy that if something comes in -- something must go out. If I buy a new thing for the kitchen, an old thing must get tossed or given away and if there is nothing to go nothing can come in. I am strict with myself about that. It does help in decision making and cleaning up.
Also consider the dusting potential of each item in my condo -- if it will require dusting and serves no real purpose, it must not enter....If it is gorgeous and a thing of beauty that will make me happy to look at it forever-- dusting requirement still a factor but apply the 24 hour rule I.e. put on hold and think about it for 24 hours and if I still lust after it... then it can be considered if bank balance will permit... so have put up many obstacles to taking in more "stuff".
Sorry for the essay!

I LOVE IKEA. I love the store, the adventure, the discovery of new pieces, the craziness of shoppers and the swedish meatballs. I also love the concept that good design and pretty things are NOT only reserved for the rich! yes! And although much has been said about IKEA quality, I actually like the fact that things wear out and need to be replaced as opposed to feeling that something was so expensive that it must be kept for an eternity. Yeah IKEA, I heart you!!

Since my fridge is a small step away from my stove, I put all my spices in the round magnetic containers and used the side of my fridge as my magnet board. Cheap, looks fun and easy to reach while cooking!

huv123: This is the GREAT thing about my earplugs -- I sleep well and can hear such important things as the fire alarm and the alarm in the morning. In other words, earplugs dont remove ALL noise, just the annoying noises like fridge hum or mechanical buzzing and traffic noise .. or snoring. I LOVE my earplugs = sanity and restfulness!!

I love the final look of the desk and I really like your explanations of the process -- unlike some TV shows where everything is made to look so easy peasy and always comes out perfect on the first go. Thanks for being REAL (not like "reality" TV).
