Focus less on the type of furniture to buy and focus more on creating memories with it. Your children will keep the objects that will evoke memory. Children are able to find such joy and meaning in objects that adults may pay no attention to. No matter how beautiful, an object which does not evoke personal emotion is just an object. And no matter how functionally or aesthetically mundane, and object that feels infused with the spirit of the people who used it and loved it will always carry a special sense of magic.

People with "pinterest stress" really need some adversity in their lives. Wow.

I made a vapor rub using olive oil, beeswax, rosemary, peppermint, and eucalyptus. It was very effective, especially when used on the feet (I have no idea why, but it works), and combined with a few drops of rosemary and eucalyptus in the humidifier.

Yeah, maybe time to move out of Tokyo. Seriously, how do you enjoy living in a city when this is what you can afford?

Not worth it.

@LyonStill, that's the Marin County Civic Center. It was actually completed after his death, and while it's attributed to Wright, much of the design was done by Aaron Green. It was always intended as a government space. I love seeing it from the freeway.

La Miniatura is probably the best example of my least favorite FLW period. But hey, I wouldn't kick it out of bed.

That's just kind of lazy, though, CarmenJo. A good designer finds a solution that is not only practical but integrated, beautiful, and makes the entire design better.

It shouldn't be nuisance, it should be an opportunity to carry the design further.

Nope. Don't like it.

I hope the homeowners have some cash set aside for the remodeling they'll have to do to bring their homes up to code in the event they want to sell.

If you can't design a proper handrail that meets code and contributes to the aesthetic, find a new profession.

Wow. If I didn't have a man who tamps down my girly side, this is exactly what my apartment would look like. Love, love the colors.

Also, what's so great about a double sink? More surface area to clean?

So, some think he needs to be treated more like an adult, and others think he should be talked to more like a child. Interesting.

I like her focus on not letting the phone control his social life and how he treats people. Way too many teens treat their phones like it's their main method of communicating, instead of, you know, their mouths being their main method of communicating.

Another tip I would give my kid - try not to walk around with your headphones in all the time. You'll miss SO much.

If I'm being honest, the porn rule is kind of setting him up for failure. I think we're kidding ourselves if we think our 13 year olds are going to live up to it. I think a better lesson would be "porn is fantasy, not reality. Don't expect real girls/women to look or act like that, and don't expect to be able to treat them like that."

A Few Ways to Change It Up at Home for Under $10

This post is why I refuse to have an office! I know that I'm just going to drag my laptop out to the couch to watch something on Netflix with my husband while I work. Why fight it? Instead of a desk, I got a chill mat and a Kramfors sofa (the arms are nice and wide and make a cozy spot for my computer).

If we ever have a house with a real dedicated dining area, I want a huge table. There are only three of us, but I like to work on projects at our table, and I'd love to not have to move anything when dinner is ready. I imagine it functioning as a central drop/eat/craft/homework space. And yes, I know myself, so I will pass on a house where I wouldn't be able to see the TV from my comfy craft chair.

I'd take any house on Parenthood.

OMG Ruth's Fisher's kitchen, love. And Brenda's craftsman house toward the end the series was gorgeous.

I also love Liz Lemon's apartment, especially her bedroom.
