Actually, I take it back. They all look like renderings.

I might be way out of line here, and maybe someone can back me up on this, but am I the only one who thinks some of those photos on their website look like renderings?

Absolutely gorgeous! $1100 is a great deal for all that work - and it looks like they did a fabulous job. Couch envy over here.

Well this thread went exactly as expected. Like the AT editors don't know exactly what they're doing when they do B&As like this.

Regardless of the decision to paint, I don't understand the hardware choice. The original hardware was perfect for the piece. I don't get it.

Okay, lesson-learned from this thread: never rent from a landlord who lives in the main house/basement/other side of the duplex.

Focus less on the type of furniture to buy and focus more on creating memories with it. Your children will keep the objects that will evoke memory. Children are able to find such joy and meaning in objects that adults may pay no attention to. No matter how beautiful, an object which does not evoke personal emotion is just an object. And no matter how functionally or aesthetically mundane, and object that feels infused with the spirit of the people who used it and loved it will always carry a special sense of magic.

I made a vapor rub using olive oil, beeswax, rosemary, peppermint, and eucalyptus. It was very effective, especially when used on the feet (I have no idea why, but it works), and combined with a few drops of rosemary and eucalyptus in the humidifier.

Yeah, maybe time to move out of Tokyo. Seriously, how do you enjoy living in a city when this is what you can afford?

@LyonStill, that's the Marin County Civic Center. It was actually completed after his death, and while it's attributed to Wright, much of the design was done by Aaron Green. It was always intended as a government space. I love seeing it from the freeway.

La Miniatura is probably the best example of my least favorite FLW period. But hey, I wouldn't kick it out of bed.

That's just kind of lazy, though, CarmenJo. A good designer finds a solution that is not only practical but integrated, beautiful, and makes the entire design better.

It shouldn't be nuisance, it should be an opportunity to carry the design further.

Nope. Don't like it.

I hope the homeowners have some cash set aside for the remodeling they'll have to do to bring their homes up to code in the event they want to sell.

If you can't design a proper handrail that meets code and contributes to the aesthetic, find a new profession.
