I was on a quest for dye-free velvet cake a while back and never found anything either. Glad to see a pro came to the same conclusion. I can ingest all kinds of sugar and fat, but the thought of all the dye that goes into a red velvet cake just seems a little too much.

Thanks a bunch Sarah for the link to my roll-ups!! I've never done dried fruit purees without a dehydrator. But from what I gather, you should go with 150 degrees F if your oven goes that low. Or if you live somewhere sunny put it outside covered with some cheesecloth. 200 might be a bit high. I say this because someone who tried the recipe in the oven last week had nothing but big chunks of burned fruit puree when she was done because the oven was too hot. It was so very sad. I have a kid who will not eat anything (and I mean anything, even a piece of chocolate cake) unless she's hungry. All of these super cute foods would get her to the table for sure. Recently, I have tried to make snack time more of a miniature meal instead of empty calories since she often skips meals anyway. This allows me to relax (sort of) about her eating. 5 Snacks to Pique Their Interest | Apartment Therapy Ohdeedoh |

Oh, and if you wanted, you can heat the peanut butter up in the microwave before you add it to the yogurt and it would mix in more smoothly. Sounds like the random globs are workin' for you though. Crunchy, Tangy, Sweet: 10 Favorite Add-Ins to Yogurt | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

I've got a category on my blog, Fix Me A Snack, that is devoted to snacks that take 10 minutes or less to prepare - http://www.fixmeasnack.com/category/10-minutes-or-less/. Some of it is not on the light side. But mostly I'm looking for snacks made from real foods that are easy and quick. Ugh. I just can't win. We use agave, but not in large amounts. I'm a fan of sugar in all it's forms really. Please keep us up to date if anyone ever actually figures this out. Agave Nectar: Healthful or Harmful? | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |
