I find I don't normally use an entire 70- or 100-page "single-subject" notebook for a single class, so I make them into 2- or 3-subject notebooks by adding tabs or just starting from the beginning of the notebook for one class and starting from the back for another.

Agreed! I do this regularly! Other organizations that do pickups in my area (northern VA) are the Lupus Society: http://www.lupuspickup.org/web/pageDetail.aspx?pgID=redirector-home

and the Purple Heart: http://zc.purpleheartpickup.org/

Another option that I've used is cork boards, pushpins and dowels (1/8th inch is best). Stick the pushpins into the cork boards at a slightly downward angle, then rest the dowels (parallel to the floor) on top of the pins. Earrings fit great over the dowels! 2 or 3 pushpins will also hold necklaces.

You're making me miss Paris! I found it much easier to live more sustainably there than in DC, where I am now. Thanks for the photos and article!

I lived in Paris last year, and these are very cool and useful. Paris traffic could be kind of scary though, I stuck to side streets and along the canals. DC is getting a bikesharing program soon, I'm psyched!

I almost started to print these out, but then I remembered my county has single-stream recycling. Love it!

I saw a commercial about this on TV yesterday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGcZrqP4f98

It's also worth it to note that some scientists are arguing that the majority of cleaned birds will die anyway, so euthanasia would be kinder: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2010/06/100608-gulf-oil-spill-birds-science-environment/

My aunt taught me to use the film from the inside of the eggshells to help clear up pimples. Just tear off a little piece and put it on the pimple before bed. It helps dry it out.

This would totally work. I say this as someone who dried her sheets all last year by hanging them over the shower rod, which was very close to the bathroom ceiling light. Much quicker drying than anywhere else in the apartment. Of course, I still support CFLs and turning the lights off and patience above all. :)

I read on a green blog that it's possible that the plastic wrap keeps certain vegetables fresher so much longer that it's actually the greener option. The cutting down on rotten, wasted food actually offsets the plastic usage. Not sure if this applies to potatoes, since they stay fresh for a while anyway. I wish I could find that link...

And are these being sold with the intention of microwaving them in plastic? That's kind of weird, I definitely wouldn't do that. But then, I've never "baked" a potato of any kind in my microwave.

It is super cute...but I can (and have) put together my own kit for way less than $42!
