The fabric looks great! I went with a solid red color because I was overwhelmed with the choices. After seeing some of the other fabrics, I regretted the plain choice. This week was a great week for me ... meaning I didn't totally suck. I did glue my entire hand, including my wrist, to the foam. I forgot to let the glue dry for a bit. I didn't even get in trouble for my previous post, which Matthew was sure to let me know he had read. I also got some positive reinforcement for my own work (gradually guided by Antonio). These are the indicators of a great week! Looking forward to your final post and the image of your finished ottoman.

Friday night, I stayed at my friend Lisa’s house in NJ, after spending the day at a funeral… I warned her, “I cannot over sleep, I have my upholstery class tomorrow and the instructor warned us not to be late.” She laughed… I couldn’t sleep. I arose at 6am and arrived early, parked in front of the Furniture Joint and waited. With 15 minutes to class, I rang the bell. I rang a few times. The window opened. I looked up. .. One look at Matthew’s face an it was made clear to me that I was now in trouble for being too early and annoying. [sigh]. I write this in fear because I know he tracks this blog. He said it “amuses” him to read the postings.
Cambria, your blog captures my experience and sets it into words… last week I too was thrilled to make peace with the staple gun. I got the “demo” station last week. I was really nervous. I think Matthew quickly learned that I was in need of 1:1 instruction… When he had to provide a tutorial of how to swing a hammer for the second time  But I did have some success and I even got a thumbs up once. True, it was mostly due to the fact that I had an actual example of the correct way to do each step on my ottoman… the demo. I was also warned not to botch-up “his” ottoman (“botch up” were not exactly the words used). I’m super nervous for next week, being that I was told I would not have the good fortune of landing the same station.
Last night, I stared at my “thrift shop treasure”… the chair that inspired me to begin this process. I gave her a loving pat. I think I’m learning something… even though I haven’t been so nervous in class since I had nuns for teachers. I feel the tough love in the details. Today, I intend to strip her down and take a look at her bones. Then there is no going back…I will have an amazing chair! Just as soon as I’m done with my darn ottoman (or rather Matthew’s ottoman).
Hang in there ladies!

I'm am in the midst of Matthew's class as well (week 1 down...3 more to go) ... thank you for the notes. I started taking notes but realized I would never be able to understand them. Even while using my notes, I failed at every task and poor Antonio had to do every step for me :-(
Hang in there Cambria! I wonder is they do private lessons?
