Regardless how small a space, I think it can become a dream hideaway for kids as long as it has a window; and a good sized one, with a view to the outside. I can't see a kid being happy in a closet for more than two fun nights. After that, it's back to basically sleeping in a closet while others have rooms .... Smart, fun and different! Would work even better without the left hand side lower one, in wood, but I like the idea. I wouldn't have them in my house, though, since I'm sure they would drive me crazy in the shortest of time. Video: Mix & Match Cabinet Doors for Big Savings IKEA Hackers |

I kinda' got tired of the "novelty" of using suitcases, chairs, bar stools, and even small ladders as nightstands. I found the wall mounted cabinets and cube very calming, sleek and inspiring. I have been thinking of replacing the very nice, yet not very useful, small round garden tables we have in our bedroom with something stronger (in terms of both statement and construction). Very useful topic, indeed. Alternative Nightstands: Think Outside the Box |
