Very helpful post for my AT; thank you. My bedroom is painted a dark brown and similarly arranged as the first picture but for more than a year now I could not decide on curtain color and other styling elements -- now I have made my decision -- I love the green lining of the curtains, the bedside lamps, the leather handles on the bedside tables...beautiful. Who's the "we"? You and your roommate/twin/other personality? and you share a boyfriend? Do you have any idea how ridiculous the plural possessive sounds in a post like this? Please give it up. Others on the site have. New at Ikea: Pressa Portable Hanging Dryer Good Finds | Apartment Therapy San Francisco |

After 4yrs I'm still absolutely in love with my marble countertop; carrara, honed, not polished, and not finest grade, so was less expensive than granite or great butcher block when I was pricing. No special maintenance or babying required -- I roll pastry but don't cut directly on the countertop and I'm watchfull about acidic substances or spills as I would be with any surface. There has been some etching, but I find that appealing. It's such a marvelous, sensous, yet cool material... I have been known to kiss it and rest my face on it for long, loving moments :) Best Advice: White Marble Counter Tops Pros & Cons | Apartment Therapy New York |

I just saw the windows in person -- the rooms and designs did not photograph well at all! Maxwells's and Eddie's rooms are actually much lovelier and less cluttered than the photos suggest -- even Eddie's tschoke filled bookshelf and paint splattered wallpaper are not so horrible and seem nicely balanced with splashes of hot pink and orange. I hate to admit it, because I was not a fan of his snarky arrogance on top design, but his room is a lot of fun and may be my favorite. Unfortunately, in person or not, the Bloomies window is still completely devoid of character. Replace rug, flower arrangement and change ridiculously contrived placement of books to neat stacks on the floor closer to the "bookcases" and this will be a lovely, welcoming room. The back story, however, of the red velvet-wearing single writer waiting for his lady friend is creepy; the particular elements of this room with that guy in it is more evocative of a pretentious English professor about to seduce his young student, male or female. Change the story to that of the writer making an awkwardly but sweet attempt to celebrate an occasion with spouse and the vibe is completely transformed. Thank you; this is very helpful. Do you have any recommendations for the center speaker and 2 rear (wireless) speakers (or are rear speakers not as crucial as the center speaker?) I have digital cable and the airport express is my wireless router. Thanks again. The Urban Home Theater 2.1: The Starter System Guest Post | Apartment Therapy Unplggd |

Great post, but I need a bit more hand-holding: recently bought a Panasonic plasma and would like to set up better sound and take advantage of its PC input and ethernet port. We have a decent receiver and 2 bookshelf speakers (not connected yet to tv obviously) -- they're old but do the job very well and I would like to add 2 rear speakers. We have an aiport express but no blu ray or PS3. Can you please talk me through as to next steps? Must I get a subwoofer? I don't want to irritate the neighbors with too much vibration. How do I set up Wi-Fi connection? Novice questions, I know, but help will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks. The Urban Home Theater 2.1: The Starter System Guest Post | Apartment Therapy Unplggd |
