Lovely, lovely, lovely. Your bed looks like mine (except I have a few more cats). Lint rollers and daily vacuuming keep me sane, too. Absolutely loved this tour.

I love this stuff! We don't have a TJ's in my area, but I buy it whenever I visit my sister. I even have people buy it for me when they're going somplace with a TJ's. I use it as a sandwich spread, a dip, and in place of tomato sauce when making a Mediterranean style pizza. I find a couple of spoonfuls of this works just dandy in any sauce calling for pureed roasted red peppers. Thanks for all the other great ideas!

Loved your home. I, too, have a lot of pets (7 cats) and understand the daily struggle of maintaining a pet-friendly, yet attractive, decor. Sisal, jute and sea grass rugs work with cats as does matelasse bedding. Upholstery is trickier since they take their claws to just about anything. I've learned to rely a lot on washable (and replaceable) slipcovers, strategically placed pillows and throws and distressed leather -- all of which works with my 30's bungalow meets Paris flea market meets global boho chic decorating style. Also adore your outside spaces. I'm turning my attention to my yard now and you've definitely given me a lot of inspiration. Cheers from Mississippi!

One more note regarding some of the comments about the knife display in the kitchen. I personally wouldn't do this because I have cats and I wouldn't want them to impale themselves (although it might be a deterrent to them jumping on the counters), but I've seen this arrangement in a lot of cooks' homes and pictured on cooking blogs. I am going to assume most of these homes are child- and pet-free. In that case, I totally get wanting easy access to your knives.

Love this. Looks like someplace I'd live (except for the Olsen twins book. Funny how we all picked up on that). I have a drop-leaf table that I used just as she did when I lived in a small rental. Now that I have a bigger house it's back to being a dining room table. I may have to save this house tour for a periodic on-line drive-by. It looks like it's worth many revisits.

On the whole, gorgeous. Great lighting fixtures. The kitchen still looks like a work in progress, however. Re the bathroom -- that tile is exactly the same as in the bathroom (and, yes, there was just one) in the 1950's house where I grew up. Very enjoyable tour.

I agree that the window coverings don't really add anything (but I also get that window coverings are pricey and not the first place you want to spend money when you're on a budget). Also think that there's too much furniture in the family room and taking out that big leather ottoman might help. LOVE the cabinets in the kitchen. Probably my favorite room. Looks very crisp yet whimsical.

I actually love your brown walls -- but then I have a very similar shade on my living room walls so I'm partial! What people who don't like "dark" wall colors often don't realize is that these rooms -- in my case the living and dining rooms -- are usually used in the evening for entertaining and the effect by lamp, candle and fire light is sophisticated and lounge-y as opposed to dark and dreary. Light and neutral colors often appear dingy in these conditions. The rooms I live in during the day -- the family room and kitchen are much lighter and brighter.

The Umbrellas of Cherbourg is one of my favorite "eye candy" movies. Adore the black cabinets and pink walls in the umbrella shop.

My bedroom has a very similar decor (lots of black and white, toile, even a couple of black cats lounging about), but I felt that it still needed a touch of "wow". When I saw those dressers -- the red one in particular -- I knew I'd found my "wow." Thanks for the inspiration -- and sharing the paint color.

I have actually used this color scheme in my living room. Lowe's Bird House Brown on the walls is dark chocolate - looks great with the white glossy trim, white sofa, jewel tone accents. The adjacent dining room is a muted red -- Brazilian Flame from Wal Mart. I got the paint colors from those used in a local home decor boutique. I was a little scared when I first put up the brown paint because it is much darker than the taupey/cocoa I saw on the walls of the boutique, but now I love it. The colors give the rooms a very lounge-y sophisticated look for evening entertaining-- which is primarily when I use these rooms.
