My family got an ostrich egg a few years back - my mom has a friend who loves trying unusual foods - and it was quite an interesting experience. 6 of us had it scrambled for dinner, and I still remember my dad finally resulting to a hack saw to finally crack it open.

I don't remember any sulfurous smell or anything (and that sounds like something you wouldn't forget!), but just something similar to a very very large chicken egg. It was a fun novelty as a kid, but not something I'll go out of my way to recreate.

I put my scarves in one of those reusable cloth bags for wine (like a regular reusable bag divided into 6/compartments). I have a couple of them for this actually... it works well and allows me to see my scarves while keeping them contained. I stack the bags on their side on closet shelf for easy viewing, but I suppose you could use them upright, or however you want.

My parents started growing loofahs in their small backyard garden in Dallas about 3 years ago. They are super easy to grow, and a word of warning: they take over EVERYTHING! We love this though, as they grow very well in the hot-dry Texas summer, completely over the fence, etc. You just leave them on the vine to dry out all fall (but make sure you bring them inside before a frost, or they will rot!).

We've been using them for just about everything, and yes, they make SUPER dish scrubbers! We do what the above reader said, and cut into 2 inch sections. Much less smelly than synthetic sponges b/c they dry out so quickly.

Loofahs are also great if you put them in a cardboard tube (i.e. Pringles can) and fill with liquid glycerin soap, then when it hardens, rip off the tube, slice (with an electric knife) and you have handmade soaps!

The alternate pizzadilla (also invented out of substitution, and mistakenly thought to be the invent of the food) is to use pre-made crust for an individual pizza in place of a tortilla with traditional quesadilla filling, and cook normally (I used a paninni press). Surprisingly satisfying!

These were AWESOME. I grew up in Texas, where potato tacos are super common in breakfast food, but my southern-bf was skeptical. However, they were definitely his favorite meal I have cooked for him, and even asked for THIRDS.

As a meet eater dating a vegetarian, I'm always looking for things that will satisfy us both. I omitted the cinnamon basil, and instead of the dressing, whirred some avocado and sour cream through the food processor, and added some green onion for a little extra color when serving and freshness (in addition to the brightness of the lime!). These are a new staple in my house, for sure.

Any leftovers are also awesome with some scrambled eggs the next morning!
