Thanks for the recommendation. I'm going to see if I can get it in at my local library. We'll be building soon in Northern Illinois, and it looks very helpful. Recommended Book: Builder's Guide to Cold Climates |

I LOVE that jewelry stand. Is it a modified desk or is it actually made for jewelry? Keith & Rebecca's Cabin of Worldly Delights Green Tour |

I sort of like the first photo, but the rest of them confuse me. Why would you use reclaimed materials to make a building with a unified look? Is this shanty-style the intention of the builder? Salvaged Material Prefabs by Reclaimed Space |

While I'm not a total modernist, I love your splashes of color and large graphic elements. And I get giddy every time I see a house tour anywhere near me (we're in Northwest IL). Verona and Tom's Cheery Net-Zero Modern Green Tour |

Any ideas on where to find an organic papasan cushion? It doesn't have to be for outdoor use, as our papasan is inside, but our dog has destroyed its cushion and it's in dire need of replacement. Sleep Outside: 2 Beds, 2 Chaises and a Papasan! |

I apologize if my comment was hurtful. I didnt intend for it to be that way; I just meant that it wasn't my style. But I prefer Hollywood Regency so suppose that makes sense. I'm glad you've made something functional that is aesthetically pleasing to you out of something repurposed. Doesn't it feel great to say, "I made that?" Looking at your site I see the difference in woodgrain which is quite impressive. Before & After: An Old Settee Turned Into A Family Heirloom Frou-FruGal |

I have glass inserts left over from the exact same project. If you need more picture frames, you could use the glass for that purpose. Lots of the frames I find at garage sales and thrift stores do not have glass in them, so you can add the glass to a standard frame w/o glass and voila. It's not very creative, but it works. I'm still holding on to mine for a better use b/c I don't need any more picture frames. How To Reuse Glass Inserts from Picture Frames? Good Question |

@whiteforest Thanks for the man seal of approval! I like the amethyst (we alternate between light green and light blue bedding), but he prefers the slate. Budget Basics: The Best Organic Bedding Under $100 Shopper's Guide |

Hellkat, I, too, am trying to find an attractive organic duvet cover for a reasonable price. Have you seen this one at West Elm? http://www.westelm.com/products/organic-cotton-pin-tuck-duvet-cover-and-shams-b340/?pkey=cduvet-covers I like it, but my husband isn't sure and we can't agree on a color (isn't that always how it goes?) Organic dairy still isn't a truly green option. For one, USDA stipulations about organic are very lax, so organic dairy doesn't really mean the cattle are raised in a bucolic environment with green pastures in which to roam. Second, dairy cattle still produce copious amounts of waste that must be dealt with. In order to produce dairy for current American appetites, a lot of cows must be farmed and they produce a lot of manure that must be dealt with. That leaves a lot of room for environmental pollution and still entails no small amount of methane production. One cow produces as much waste as 20-40 people. Not pretty. I don't know if you're members of a church or community group that has servingware, but my husband and I borrowed plates silverware, etc. from the church that a friend of ours pastors. We just made a $100 donation to the church for them, which was far cheaper than going through a rental company. Help Us! What's the Greenest Way To Serve Wedding Food? |

I switched to an IUD in part because of environmental concerns. Not to mention it's cheaper and easier than the pill, and much more effective. I don't understand why more doctors and family planning clinics don't encourage women (especially young women) to get IUDs. Green Your Contraceptives Huffington Post |
