Around the World with Mouk -- it's my kid's favorite 'look book' lately. Tons to see, stickers to reposition, comments to read, and a funny little story line too.

Umm... I'm not so keen on the ticket idea either. We use our collected candy for our faux (cardboard) gingerbread house project a few weeks later. My daughter has been totally on board with this -- she gets to revel in all the colorful candy and we don't have a fight over too much sugar.

We have a poster sized print of NC Wyeth's "The Giant" in our daughter's room. It combined a sweet vision of childhood and imagination that we found appealing. You can see an image of it here: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.wyethhurd.com/giantbg.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.wyethhurd.com/giant.html&h=480&w=407&sz=35&tbnid=loIf4av3dYRWEM:&tbnh=244&tbnw=207&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dnc%2Bwyeth%2Bthe%2Bgiant&zoom=1&q=nc+wyeth+the+giant&usg=__5AEUrgnfQKSVn-cj-l6m8DKMXug=&sa=X&ei=sbSsTNm9LISBlAfcs-zOBw&ved=0CCIQ9QEwAA

This actually seems much more complicated to me and a lot less fun. I can see it working well on vacations or maybe even on those mornings when a few minutes makes all the difference, but every day including weekends? Might as well buy a uniform and save even more time by eliminating choice altogether.

Just chiming in to say I agree on ditching the stroller and going with a sling/baby carrier. We travelled a lot with our daughter when she was a baby and always found that we were far more mobile and less overwhelmed in small spaces and with stairs when we carried her on us instead of in a stroller -- and far happier dealing with less stuff!

Wow, that's a lot of sugar in one small bite. I think most kids would be happy with just the marshmallow on a stick.

That's not a toddler bed. It's a crib with a hole in the side -- a potentially dangerous hole at that (I'm with you, charmgirl).

We have VIA toy boxes in an odd space under our eaves and love them. See them here:

My husband doesn't like the faux wood laminate on the Expedite so we went with VIA and real wood. Without the colored doors, we'll be using these boxes later for bookshelves and we appreciate the freedom to configure it any way we need to to fit the space.

I second the sheepskin idea -- no sewing required, easy to adjust, and more modern looking than most pre fab seat cushions. Plus, you can move it to the floor or use it as a playmat when you no longer need it on the rocker.

Everything except diapers, onesies, and a carseat. Honestly, you can get by with repurposed stuff for everything else. Really.

I would say some sort of baby carrier (or sling, wrap, moses basket etc) would be the only piece of equipment I'd actually recommend getting, especially if you're going to be moving often. Having two hands free is an enormous benefit and carriers are so easy to pack up when it's time to move again.

Have you considered a gift certificate to a local yarn store instead? If she's an avid knitter, she probably already has some patterns picked out and might rather prefer to stock up on the yarn to make them.
You could even make a day of it together if you like to shop with her -- there are lots of pretty yarns out there and a second pair of eyes can come in handy when mixing and matching.

It's cool looking and all, but really it's just another one-task appliance to take up kitchen space. I think I'll stick to my glass covered pot -- you can still see the kernels pop but it is the ultimate multi-tasker.
