Unfortunately, I am addicted to the fan as well. The white noise machines just don't do it for me. I've used a fan to sleep since I was 5 yrs. old, and although silly, it's such a sentimental thing to me. I found a gorgeous all-metal, somewhat vintage-looking fan for $25 at Wal-Mart...I hate to admit. But it has the most soothing sound that comforts me while falling asleep, or just relaxing in my apt.
