Beyond the obvious stuff, like safety, quiet, and bug-free, a place must be dog friendly and have access to walking paths. Central air and a dishwasher are also absolutely required. I have lived in the same apartment complex for seven years; it is peaceful and safe. A lovely duck pond is located just a few blocks away, which is great for walking my cocker spaniel. Six months ago, I moved within my community to a larger apartment on the first floor. The management company agreed to split the cost with me to put in wood plank laminate floors instead of carpet in the common areas. Yes, real hardwoods would have been amazing. But, I am over the moon with my new floors! Muddy paw prints - no problem! Very easy to deal with dog hair. So, I guess that some sort of solid surface flooring has been added to my list of requirements now (bearing in mind that apartment communities where I live rarely allow you much flexibility...) I don't think that I have ever spent so much time on a single house tour! I love this tour so much. This is a home that exudes warmth and happiness. The captions were terrific; I wish that every tour would include them. And, I couldn't appreciate more the detailed sourcing. I've bookmarked every one. I will definitely be ordering the print that you used in your bathroom. It is perfect! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely home and providing so much inspiration! I'm with you; my Breville is worth every inch of counter space that it hogs, even in a fairly small kitchen. It is much more practical to fire this baby up than it does to use my regular oven. It doesn't heat up my whole apartment the way the large oven does, a huge benefit over hot TX summers. Plus, you can set you dinner plates on top of it to warm them as your dinner cooks. Everything I've cooked in my Breville comes out perfectly. Worth every penny! My Essential Appliance: Breville Smart Oven Essential Kitchen Tools |

Thanks for the repost AT; somehow I missed this one. To me, this post truly represents the spirit of AT. Sure, it is great to drool over 2600 square feet of high-end eye candy. But, to see what creative and clever people can do to create a space filled with warmth and heart, is an inspiration for us all. I see those adorable little kids growing up with dreams of long and lazy summers romping with their dog. I love everything about the space and the owners "can do" attitude. And, I especially appreciate the warmth and humor or the original post and the owner's willingness to patiently answer questions. Amazing. Oh, this post was so wonderful; it always helps to know that one will find roommates at the mental hospital! I grew up in central FL. My father was super cheap-o and freaked out over running the AC. So, I had a childhood that conditioned me to the lovely sound of a whirring fan as I dropped off to sleep. This has presented me with many a sleepless night when traveling; every sound is amplified. Eeeek. I have a very old version of the soundmate (tucked into a suitcase somewhere...). But, its size and eerily bomb-like shape pretty much guaranteed a baggage search. The thought of random, anonymous TSA guys pawing through my undies ended the sleepmate's travels. Round Up: White Noise Machines For a Peaceful Night's Sleep | Apartment Therapy DC |

Love, love, love it! It is bright and eclectic, interesting, homey and awesome! I think that you did a great job working your pieces in with all of the colors. And, I know exactly what you mean about the books... so very hard to get rid of! I don't think it looks cluttered at all. Wendy's Bright & Bold Rowhouse House Tour | Apartment Therapy DC |
