Buy a nice used brand name and sell it for what you paid for it when you're finished.

And to the parents who think going from the car to the stroller to the restaurant to the stroller to the car without ever leaving the seat is a good thing... I roll my eyes at you.

When a new library opened up near us a while back, it included a playground of a very unorthodox design. For example, the slide is a shallow plastic V without sides.

A high percentage of mothers will not allow their children to use it, although I have never seen a single kid have trouble going down it.

If my daughter never got hurt, I would be disappointed. You can't excel without testing your limits.

Uhg.

Another product to buy to avoid holding your kid.

I thought most kids liked the stinky vinegar.

The Bjorn potty chair is great. I was upset when my wife purchased the Bjorn "toilet trainer" immediately afterwards. I felt that it would be counter-productive. It wasn't immediately, but at some point our daughter decided that the potty chair was too small and wanted to use the other. That led to requests for help.

We went from a self-sufficient kid to one that asks for help half the time. My advice is to not mix them.

None of this killed us. I think our kids will somehow muddle through.

It's alarming because snacks are often meal-sized, and meals are three times larger than they should be.

And the people feeding their kids (or themselves) McDonalds... have no perspective, or concern about healthy.

These are nice seats. My daughter has been enjoying hers.

The base is wider and flatter than many other models on the market. The latch system makes the seat much more stable than seats that rely on the seatbelt and childs weight to hold them into place. This is an advantage for kids climbing in the seat and when making sharp turns (like right before a wreck).

The seat both roomy and provides lateral support. This is often an either-or with seats.

Yes, it is expensive, but only when compared to the flimsy boosters on the market - not when compared to the quality child seat you're likely moving them out of. This is also a seat they will spend many more years in, so cost/year is actually lower.

My only complaint is that the fabric is a hair magnet. It would be more appropriate for a lint roller than a kid seat. We have the monkey seat. Not sure if the others are the same.

Shop around, and use things like the Bing cashback program to save some dough.

"today's standards"? They're non-existent.

If you're worried about it, give them a wooden spoon, a pot, a cardboard box, a stick out of the yard and a handful of leaves. They'll be happier with that anyway.

Disposable and commercial. Another lose-lose.

Buy used.

Find a good value and you will be able to sell it for what you paid for it. What you can't "afford" is to buy new.

Oh joy. More disposable plastic to replace a pair of baby scissors that would last for generations.
