Dark grey walls would be attractive and masculine. LOVE that original tile!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your original tile bathroom. In fact, I just purchased a vintage 1959 sink and bath tub set in the same blue as yours for the add-on bathroom in my 1950 home. I already restored the original pink-tile bathroom to it's original glory. Many of my neighbors were inspired to do the same after seeing it. I think your blue is very beautiful and calming...IOW, "spalike". With some well-chosen wallpaper, accessories, lighting (very important!), towels, etc this bathroom will be stunning!

P.S. If you choose to remove that blue wall tile, pls send it to me. Thx!

I like this space a lot-well done CJ and Renee. It's modern, yet not coldly stark. And Austin is adorable. What material is the kitchen counter top, pls? Marble? Corian?

I suggest using governmental/public resources to help you. Call the city or county building inspectors to come out and take a look (and a sniff). Next, call the city attorney's office for information on slum housing enforcement. While the rest of your place may be fab, an odor such as the one you describe constitutes uninhabitability (see above discussion). It also can constitute a health hazzard. Call the health department too.
On a personal note, I'm not sure I'd want to find out what's causing the stink. I know moving is expensive and time consuming, but I'd rather endure that then find out what (or, God forbid, who) is buried in the garden.

What a sleek, sophisticated, glamerous and soothing apartment. I think the mirrored kitchen cabs are stunning. Such an inspired idea! I also love the brown accents against the greys--so beautiful. And those curtains! They add the perfect touch of understated glamour and sheen.
Also think the bedroom drawers and closets are devine.
Really wonderful space.

Please be super careful with that heater. They are VERY dangerous. My good friend rented a house matching your home's description: 1920's craftsman with the same kind of floor heater. About a month ago, one of his dogs knocked something onto the heater grate while he was out. The house burned to the ground. Both of his dogs died. The fire fighters said the house's old wood went up like a book of matches.
Also, my husband's childhood home (many years after his family moved away) fared the same fate. It too was an old house that burned down from a floor heater fire.

At the very least, please have the gas company come to inspect the furnace. They will do this for no charge. In California, the gas companies will replace a pipe with an earthquake friendly one that flexes, also for no charge.

If I were you, I would simply have the gas co.to inspect the furnace (for gas leaks too) and extinguish the pilot light.
Better to bring extra blankies and drink hot chocalate than to experience a tragedy.

I like both the before and after! The after is esp. lovely. The color choice and wallpaper patter work beautifully together and compliment the traditional (and FABULOUS) architecture in a beautifully unexpected way. Love the paint detail on the ceiling and the pedant light black medallion. Great, attractive way to have a flat screen and fireplace on the same wall without placing the former over the latter (ugh)--well done! I think Brad took a lot of design risks here with remarkably attractive results. Beautiful, interesting room.

I grew upt with that set! The small turquoise bowl was used exclusively for tuna fish. My mom still has hers and gave her mother's to my sister. I chose to let go of the sibling rivalry thing and bought my own. You're so right! It does feel good to have them in my home. I won't reach Zen, however, until I get a full set of 1950's mustard yellow Le Creuset crockery.
