All you need to know is at cedarworks.com. I kid you not. I have the world's smallest backyard and I was able to configure a set that fit. The online tool is great - start with the Revelry box tower (smallest support base available), add a swing ladder a labber or tower to hold up the other end...and go from there with accessories. If you have no room for swing clearance (6-8' each side), you can do a 4' x 2' base tower with yardarms for trapeze-type swings, ropes, poles, slides, etc.

Small, sturdy, nice looking. The Serendipity sets are gorgeous, but bigger and costlier.

Good luck!

If you need coverings for privacy then remove the rods and put outside mount roman shades on all 3, hung at the same height and let down to the same length on all ( let down enough to cover the transition from transom to the window on the door). You will cover the stained glass, but you will have a unified look. And, not all stained glass is good stained glass...if that isn't just stained glass film...

If you do not need to cover all 3 for privacy, do long drapes on the windows (yes, they will fit, just mount the rods on the walls not the woodwork so the drapes fall to the sides more, they will even touch between the windows). Do not swag them, long and lean will be good to emphasize height and not add confusion. Do not do anything on the door except take off the stuff that is currently there. Frosting that glass with a film or the spray is an option, too.

Okay, I live in an area that has this type of house like crazy. Some are done very well, others not so much.

First, do NOT do cream or yellow. It's too big a house for that, and it will just be dirty a blah looking. Second, you need a pallet of 3 colors on a house this large. One for trim, one for all the shingles and clapboard (I'm rarely a fan of splitting them, the bottom will look squished under all that top of a different color) and one for pop. My neighbor just painted their place in a rich creamy brown with cream accents and did all the window frames and doors in red/orange. Brilliant. somewhat like this, but with brown base: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jputnam/489068935/

If you are not a fan of brown or mushroom-y green or red...gray would be okay, but get creative with the trim, pick a purple or a red or an orange. A large house like this needs some weight to it and something to make the details pop, otherwise it's just a hulking beige monolith.

As a recipient of the take out menu holder I can tell you it's silly. We eat a lot of takeout and this thing has never even been unwrapped. It's just doing what a drawer and a stack of menus already does. It's not like we have hundreds of favorite places...MAYBE it's good for a vacation home where you are helping out of town guests navigate the options...At least this post reminds me that it's a good item to pull out and pass on for a yard sale...

could you get one large piece of plexi to be screwed on the full length along the back? One piece from top to bottom of staircase - would skim the back of each riser and if stiff enough prevent anything from going through? Even a canvase fabric pulled tight - perhaps with grommets in ends attaching to screws under bottom tread and top tread?

Just a thought based on your photo.

silliest thing ever. seems to take up a ton of space, is hella-ugly and why on earth does a toddler need privacy panels? built in mousepads? Really???

I think it's a matter of how you live. Do you entertain often? Do you want a window in your bedroom or prefer a dark space?

Personally, I'd do as you suggest and use room 1 as the bedroom, put the sofa with it's back to the closet and use room 2 as the LR. So what if your closet is outside the door to your room? No biggie. Think about taking the door between room 2 and dining room off the hinges so that it's clear that there is flow there from space to space. Then the door to your room can be closed when you have company.

BUT, if you work at home or otherwise spend a lot of time there, you may want to have the windows in the LR (I assume room 1 has windows and room 2 does not.) If you did this, perhaps put a screen or a curtain up to separate the bed area in room 2 and create the same hallway effect as you mention above. See apttherapy "bed nook" posts on how to make that personal space feel less invaded by walk-through traffic. Would love to see photos when you move in!

Which Room Should Be the Living Room? Good Questions | Apartment Therapy New York

to me this looks like a post-prison apartment. Sure, it's small, but there has been no real effort put into the design. Other than the cat stairs, its not thoughtful. The kitty box is under the food prep area, ewwww.

I'd mount the bike on the wall, move the branch over the sofa, put the desk in the area between the kitchen and the pole (where the small dresser is now), put the smaller dresser in the entry where that mirror is (perhaps mount the mirror over it)...just get things not so lined up in a row...then I'd get a rug and a floor lamp or something to define the living space versus the desk/eating space...oh and I'd get a few little upholstered cubes or something to sprinkle around so you can have guests sit - they could live under the window or one could be a side table to the couch...

oh, and paint the dressers something fun that ties them together and makes them look less accidental and of such disparate styles...

see ikeahackers for ways to hide the litter box in plain sight.

I used a Behr color called Reflecting Pool (light blue) for a small and dark room, and I swear by it. It brightened it up so much. curtain on a track system could be cool for the closet for a more modern feel than a traditional rod and rings...

I had that same coffee table (it's at my sister's now as we moved to smaller room) - got it at Jordan's furniture in Reading, MA. Last I knew it was on their website still. I liked it and it was inexpensive and well-made (did not chip like the previous crate and barrel one did...it was actually wood and not veneer). Good luck finding it!

Let me step back in to say that, on the whole, I LOVE etsy. Dresses, linens, art, stationery - yes, yes, yes, yes. I did all my Christmas shopping last year on etsy. But crib sheets = no for me. Same goes for blinds for kiddo's room and any other items where I feel like safety is part of the equation.

I would never buy home-made crib sheets. The quality of the elastic and stitching is just too important - crib sheets need to fit VERY securely in order to not be a strangulation hazard. Name brands have done safety testing, etc. I read Baby Bargains book and bought only the brands they had verified as safe. Not a place to skimp or put style above safety, IMO.

We have a set of alphabet foam letter for the tub and a set of stuffed-animal letters. Both are HUGE hits.

Can you tell me the brand and name of the tub? I am also looking for a small but deep tub for a tight space.

Thanks! (oh, and the curtain may be better than a glass door anyway, gives you easy access in and out and nothing to bump into.

Nice job!

Without pictures or a floorplan, it's nearly impossible for us to answer this in any constructive manner. If you are looking for some random design ideas for small apartments with kids, I'd say Google that (or search here on AT to see where folks put the crib in a closet and whatnot...)

Following up that the CB2 Sidecar table is what I had in mind for the wall under the picture. With a granite top to match counter, and L-shaped....open, but with a finite end for bar storage.

I'd move the table elsewhere (or get a drop leaf table to double as entry table and pull it out for formal dinners). In the corner where the table is now I'd build an L-shaped breakfast bar with stools, same height as the counterop or higher, depending on comfort. Folks seated on stools could look into kitchen to chat and on the wall to the right of the stools you could have the counter extrend around for addl seating (so 2-3 could eat there) and underneath of the very right most end have some cabinets under the counter to act as a bar storage area. It would give that space purpose when entertaining and when living at home/not entertaining.

Same granite as kitchen, minimal construction (braces for the bit against cabinets and corner, and perhaps look at cabinets that match your kitchen ones for the bar enclosure.

Key it to make sure it's enough space for users of the stools to be comfy and not feel penned in by the column.

Swivel stools will help make it more accessible and comfortable in a party.

I vastly prefer the "after." The red bore no relation to the style of the cabinets or the floor. The new look is very harmonious - and I'll guess that it suits the rest of her stuff better too, unless she has 1980's puffy leather sofas in the next room...

Old kitchen was cold and dated, new is welcoming.

All well and good, but the curtains in the pic are too short. why not move the rod down so the curtains skim the floor? they look odd suspended above the ground like that.

Overall, though, I'm a fan since many closet doors are cheap and ugly and a curtain may make it softer and allow for more floor space.
