I also love the grass cloth, but I'm with you on the fireplace. I like the idea somebody mentioned about staining the concrete. I think it would look nice if you got a few pieces of thin wood , stained them, and then mounted them over the tile on the front for a more seamless look.

Whichever you decide on, I highly recommend painting the swatch all the way up to the ceiling. I recently painted my office a green similar to the absinthe color and while it looked nice on the bottom, near the ceiling it was a hideous yellow-green nausea party from the light and it needed to be repainted.

pmaher - I saw that planter on sale at Z Gallerie the other day. They had a size much bigger than this one for $25!

Sometimes old pianos are un-tunable and when trying to get rid of our old upright piano, we discovered there is no market for them and they're essentially worth nothing. Because of that and how difficult they are to move and get rid of, I totally understand painting a piano so that it at least looks interesting if it serves no other purpose.

I have had such a terrible experience with Portland General Store (a lot of other people did as well which is why their Etsy store rating is 92% and with how many of those were neutral ratings the real positive rating score is 83%) that I would never buy from them again.

The owner of this store didn't mail out my item for about 6 weeks despite having sent out a click and ship much earlier. It took forever to get an e-mail response, and some reviewers didn't get any though they sent numerous inquiries. And honestly, when the product arrived, it wasn't that great.

Sorry, but this looks like a 'before'. The shelf colors, the range hood, the floor, the cabinets, the counter tops - I find every single one of them really ugly.

I understand having open shelving if you have a ceiling situation like the second photo, but while I think it *can* look nice if there are only a few items on it (especially clear glass), I'm not a huge fan for the reasons already mentioned here. For a clumsy allergy sufferer like myself, I think they would be a disaster.

I guess this might be good for people that don't actually read the books on their shelves or if you're just covering a couple of embarrassing books. The shelves where every book is covered though is ridiculous, even if it looks cute, because how would you find the book you want without taking ages?
