Great living room. I like your idea to do a reading nook by the windows. I would put two chairs over there with a table In between. What if you created built in white bookcases on both sides of the fireplace. Start at the window wall Go all the way up to the linoleum on the other side. You could have them built or use a stock kind like Billy at Ikea. It could make your small living room look interesting. Fill it with books to read, pics, and trinkets. On the left side of the fireplace (if you are facing it) take out a few shelves of the center of that part of the bookcase and wall mount your t.v on a swivel mount. If you build the built ins sturdy enough it could sit on a shelf. I would put a couch in front of the fireplace (against the wall)...maybe even a couch with a right facing chaise to define the end of the living room with maybe a chair on the left side. I can't tell the scale of the room don't put too much in there if it doesn't fit. Have fun! How To Arrange Furniture In Small Living Room? Good Questions |

I have never laughed so hard at a post. I feel your pain. Modern is a box store ugly computer desk that has plastic stainless steel on it. Retro is exactly as you described. I just found an ikea dresser (that is brand new 149 dollars) being sold for 150 and stated that they paid 350. What? The malm dresser has never been that much. Be honest and don't sell your 3 year old dresser for more than if you could buy it new. Do You Suffer from Craigslist Elitist Syndrome? |

This is a great room. I agree with arroyo to make the details in the room pop you could pick a darker color. A blue with tones green and grey? I like grey too like lepidoptery suggested. Fireplace - I would paint it. I cant tell what the tile looks like but you could maybe pull in those colors somewhere else in the room (which would work better with grey walls) OR you could paint the tiles as well. (make sure you use the right kind of heat resistant paint if you do that)
