Not only is the post recycled, the source listed as Christy & Hannah's blog belongs to someone else. And from the few minutes I spent looking over Christy & Hannah's actual site, I noticed that this isn't even their backyard, but a client's backyard. Did the person who wrote this post spend any amount of time looking over her sources, or was this a last-minute, "rush to beat the deadline" post? Apartment Therapy has a lot of really good posts, but it's the shoddy, slapped-together posts like this one that really bring the other ones down.

I wouldn't let the quality of the furniture change what fabric I used. If you want bold, I say, go for it! But in all seriousness, you should consider how long you'll be happy with it. Personally, though, I'd be kicking myself if I went with something neutral for the sake of better quality. Fabric isn't permanent; neither is life.

Love this! My dad owned a sign business for 24 years, but got out of it. It's true, everybody wants it cheap & quickly done nowadays, so hand lettered and sandblasted wood signs are definitely rare..which is what my dad loves (and misses!). I wish he could get in on something like this!

Mine's a "Sterling China" mug that's tan with brown speckles/dots and a stripe across the top that's not a solid bar, but more of a scribble. It was somewhat of an impulse buy at an antique store, but i couldn't pass it up for 25 cents. I'm so glad I got it, becuase now it's my absolute favorite! It reminds me of a 50s/60s diner. :)

My parents are getting me a laptop for Christmas this year (shhh don't tell them I know!), which is really practical considering I'm in college...but honestly I'm really excited to get the Fossil watches I picked out a month ago! Yes it's jewelry, but it's PRACTICAL jewelry! ;)
I guess I'm more a fan of the gifts that are on the unexpected/sorta funky side. Although none of my friends buy gifts for each other (we're all broke & in college!), my friend and I did go in on the perfect gift for her sister (also my friend) - eyelashes for her car's headlights! Although it's slightly crazy & on the verge of tacky, we're sure she'll love them!

Good grief! Why does everyone with a wood furniture fetish feel the need to complain every time somebody uses paint?! It's not a museum-quality heirloom. There's plenty of wood furniture to go around. So stop whining about a few coats of paint.
I love what you've done with the dresser, Diana, and look forward to see the end result. Don't worry about what these whiners say.

I agree with clampers - you have to go to RetroRenovation.com! also, there's an awesome magazine called Atomic Ranch. it's all about MCM houses, and it has a bunch of good companies that advertise their stuff in it as well. you should be able to find the magazine in a good book store.

When I saw this post, I immediately thought of my La-Z-Boy rocker/recliner. It's big and puffy and definitely a grandma-grandpa chair, but it's pretty much a rocking CLOUD! It's the kind of rocking chair that's easy to fall asleep in. I can't ever see getting rid of it. :)

To those people saying to reupholster, slipcover, etc. Embrace the funk!!
I don't know why, but i keep thinking an eggplant color would really make the couch pop. But that's probably borderline disaster-waiting-to-happen. Haha but that's my take! :) Then again, I think pulling the colors directly from the couch sounds rather..boring.
