I didn't see it suggested yet, but some friends of ours had a similar issue and their solution was to get the gamer in he family a beanbag chair. It worked for them because it was easy to move around and was comfy. Comes to the middle of the room for game time and gets chucked back in the corner when the game gets turned off, plus they have a kid and he loves the damn thing, so it works for them all around. @olderworker, I had that exact bad for years as a teenager and can tell you the sheets were kinda a b*tch to change. I'm sure if you had an actual loft it would be easier, but basically you have to be on the bed to change the sheets, and being on the bed makes it hard to lift the edges to get the sheets under.
