Nanobelle, you are darling (and did my mom put you up to that post?). Lenabug, I was wondering the same thing myself! She simply said the piece was "hideous" and I can appreciate that. The comment was an opinion, not in any way rude or demeaning. I actually love that people can express their true feelings about anything posted on AT, good, bad or snarky. This is a site for ideas, feedback, and conversation, not just a page for compliments.

Thank you for the very kind comment. My daughter, Rose, likes to say she's "growing up and up and up for the roller coaster." I cleaned it with Mrs. Meyer's Lemon cleaner, aired it out, and then painted it. Covering it with a fresh coat of paint really helped.

"Hideous" is actually the precise aesthetic I was aiming for, so at least a few of you got it. Thanks for not noting my manky dishes in the background. Actually, I'm pretty floored by the feedback. I have posted a few things before, but I'm overwhelmed by the comments on this armoire. To clarify, a few things:
1. the armoire is fastened to a stud in her room
2. my daughter did help with the painting and she decided on all of the things to be included (including some leaping whales).
3. at some point, she will think it's ridiculous, too, but for now we both like the stories we tell by looking at it
My mother has nagged me since childhood to illustrate a children's book, and these comments have made me feel like I actually just might finally make that draft.
