They have it at the Paramus, NJ store - saw it there last night by the check-out. Before i dropped one of my new mugs i'd just paid for.

I awoke one night to a tremendous shaking thump and clatter ... the bathroom ceiling caving in and scattering paint chips, wall parts, cracked and rotted wood pieces, and bits of rubble and concrete into the bathtub and all around. The torrent of debris knocked most stuff off the walls and when i gingerly opened the door fully the dust was still settling and small pieces continued to make their way down. I'd been after the landlord for weeks; there was a leak upstairs...

This was absolute horror to my house-living family and friends on the west coast - but almost everyone i know that rents or even owns in new york has a similar story. Funny (funny-sad? funny-pathetic?) what becomes the 'norm'.

Ooh, i love the red version pictured.
I'd blast some venezuelan Christmas music or in a cheesy mood put on that George Michael 'last Christmas...' song.

I had a mouse just like this - so clever; no amount of cheese or peanut butter could lure him to the traps (i also used all sorts of traps). He became so ballsy that he scampered out halfway across the living room floor while my dog and i were sitting on the sofa watching a movie, sat and looked at as for a second, then went further across the LR to the area behind the TV. Gross!

What finally resolved it for me was giving up on trying to catch him. Instead I removed all the traps, cleaned for the umpteenth time to remove any shred of oil, crumbs, etc from anywhere. I'd had a friend staying who'd been sleeping on the sofa and there were some crumbs under the sofa that i didn't realize were there; another lure. Then i put smelly fabric dryer sheets out on the fridge where he used to frolic and leave his calling cards. I also put some steel wool in a couple of evident holes under the sink.

Never saw him again! Not insinuating that you have crumbs and stuff around - at least not on purpose!

I have the Ikea 'Mandal' bed pictured. Inexpensive in comparison to almost anything else, and very sturdy! Took over an hour to put together - many parts and connectors - but not too difficult, and it was well worth the money spent. The pullout drawers are on metal runners and are very sturdy and well-fitted.

I compared the bed to what Gothic had to offer and liked Ikea's much better - the look, feel, everything. Gothic seemed a lot 'chunkier' and also more cheaply made. I've heard horror stories about flimsy Ikea beds but Mandal seems different - it's almost entirely solid wood, only a bit of melamine business on the drawers. Ample storage room, too.
