This would work, say, by converting a large walk-in closet into your office/bedroom, and then using the original bedroom for a closet and/or living/dining area. All you'd need is one of those tiny bathrooms that turn into a shower and some sort of kitchen and you'd be, as the real estate agents say, "cozy."

We got the Porter from R&B, which is similar to the Andre, but without a tufted back. Our main concern was to have tall arms, because we lean against the arms when watching TV (like many NY apartments, our TV is not directly in front of the couch, but to the side).

We also have a teeeeeny apartment with hardwood floors and two rugs (one shaggy). We tried using a handheld vacuum, but it never worked well enough, so we finally bought a canister vacuum. We love it. It comes with a hose attachments that gets into all the corner. At first we were worried we wouldn't have the room for it, but it fits nicely in the corner behind the sofa, and even if it didn't, it has a nice eggshell shape and neutral color that wouldn't be the worst design feature of our apartment. (I had originally wanted a cute colorful Miele, but they were too expensive.) We got this for $250 at a vacuum store on 14th between 6th and 7th.

We have the tall wood frame (and headboard) from West Elm in a dark wood, and we love it. We've had it about 10 months and we've had no problems with it. (We wanted something high off the floor for storage, and it fits a ton of stuff under there.)

What a clever use of space. Way to think outside the (Murphy hardware-holding) box.

We have the same problem (work from home teeny apartment), so we got this: http://roomandboard.com/rnb/collection.do?method=get&id=7721087&cat=49

I know it's not quite what you are looking for, but it's surprisingly roomy for being very small, and we keep our files and printer hidden inside and out of view.

My husband created one for our gadgets out of one of these: http://www.containerstore.com/browse/Product.jhtml?CATID=62561&PRODID=69701

You cut a hole in the bottom and place the power strip inside with the cord hanging out to the outlet. Then you cut a hole in the top and pull the little cords through. Voila!
