Awesome deal! It's surprisingly hard to find a nice, simple chaise without cushions that need to be washed. These look like the same chairs - http://www.target.com/p/Target-Home-Dumont-2-Piece-Sling-Patio-Chaise-Lounge-Set-Tan/-/A-13794357 - but $199 for a set of 2!

Where did you get those chaise lounges? I've been looking for something plain and simple like that.

I checked out the new store this weekend - I'm digging it! Definitely feels less preppy and cookie cutter than the Santa Monica store.

Agreed. I may drive down to San Diego for the right find, but how is furniture in Phoenix at all useful to me?

I wouldn't call ugly bed legs that don't contitute a bed frame (which is what the post asked for) "the answer." But thanks!

If anyone is still reading this...I ended up going with a $30 outdoor fixture, after months of deliberation :-) http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TXHUOOg0fo8/Tf6UwXh9VsI/AAAAAAAAGHA/2AgUi6UyQmE/s1600/DSC_0282.JPG

Very cute and lived in. Is the 1800 sq feet a typo? It looks teeny.

I second the fabric over a frame - super cheap and you can get a lot of bang for your buck as far as filling up a big space. Also easy to switch out if you're indecisive or change up your space.

I've driven a couple hours round trip or so to get the exact model of a piece of furniture I wanted at a great price. I'm cheap and I love the adventure of the hunt ;-)

Paint that panelling!! I just painted the panelling in my little guest house and it looks 150% better. (http://renodoozins.blogspot.com/) There is nothing cute about panelling, I promise.

It was kind of a pain in the ass to paint but totally worth it.

How To Work With Wood Paneling In Bedrooms?
Good Questions

Are they actually going to start selling things in the stores? At the Santa Monica location they don't sell anything except samples. They supposedly offer design advice but the people there when I went were not very helpful. It's nice to see the designs in person but I would also love to avoid the crazy shipping charges. I just spent over $700 on a rug and had to spend $100+ for shipping. Lame.

To the CA comment - YES! Looking at this picture made me nervous because I imagine getting bonked on the head during an earthquake. It looks great though, maybe just wear a helmet to bed??

"Have you really looked?
Lamps Plus has over 1200 sconces that are considered "Transitional" out of 2100+ total - there's bound to be something there that will meet your budget and your style."

I have really looked, I appreciate your concern. I suppose saying "they all seem super traditional" borders on hyperbole, so I'll modify that statement to say that vast majority of sconces strike me as traditional - even the 1200+ "transitional" sconces on LampsPlus. I suppose I should have also mentioned that I don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on a single light.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I think I'll wait until I have some furniture in the room to figure out what to do.

Joh - thanks for the comment, I am well aware of the code requirements.

Unrelated to the mattress - but where'd you get the headboard? Homemade or store-bought?

I know this is a belated reply, but I just replaced the legs on my Karlstad sectional and I LOVE IT!

I bought tapered legs from a wonderful ebay store (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=110510830926&Category=3195&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D2) who was so nice and helpful, even when I accidentally had the legs shipped to an apartment I lived in 6 years ago, 3,000 miles away.

The screws fit perfectly, the only problem was that they were too long. If I was patient I would have gone to a hardware store and see if I could have them trimmed. I'm not patient, so instead I screwed the metal deeper into the leg so they fit. Here's hoping they will not break!

Anyway, they look amazing and my relatively inexpensive couch looks modern and fancy. I'm not totally in love with the cover (Korndal brown), it's a little worn looking after a few months - but then again I have 2 dogs and have already washed the covers in direct violation of the "dry clean only" instructions, so I can't complain.

I'm in the EXACT pickle - I bought 2 Malm dressers when I moved to LA for law school 2.5 years ago and don't really like the look anymore but don't want to toss them. I don't have an artistic eye and can't figure out what might look good! I'm just worried that pulls might look funny on such a sleek piece and I have no idea what to paint...
