I agree with emoolilu! I am an Australian and the thought of having a dryer in the house is absurb. We never grew up with one, we had a clothes line in the yard, and one under our verandah. We also had 2 clothes racks to back up in winter. Now in my house as an adult, I only have a clothes line, and a clothes rack. it is great! Thanks for this! I often have trouble with trying to photograph lighting fixtures! Also I keep a very empty kitchen - I prefer the minimal look, but how would you capture it without it looking vacant and un-lived in? My microwave lives in a cupboard, so I never need to use the clock on it, so I keep it unplugged until I need to use it. Toaster is also religiously plugged and unplugged as needed but other than that I usually don't use a lot of appliances. My counter is just too small for all the other things! I do this mainly for environmental reasons and also to help prolong the life of the appliances - we get a lot of power surges!
