I'd say the rug is the least of the problems. Yes, the bookcase is just something to trip over, and the table is too small. But I also think I wouldn't make the walls quite that dark, and the picture looks like something she picked because someone at AT might like it. (And the picture frame doesn't seem to belong at all.) But hey, that's just me. You know, one flaw I see in AT is that it sometimes invites us to be our cattiest worst selves.

I must confess, I just don't get the empty frames thing. To me, it looks like the frame corner of the local thrift shop.

Is the house currently occupied? It looks so terribly empty. The house itself is very nice, but I want to give the owners a few possessions....

The first two photos are quite striking. I think, though, that I could live without extraneous things hanging down from the ceiling.

If I had room, I would really like to have a small straight-back chair to sit on while getting dressed. Where do you chairless folks sit to put on your shoes?

Unless you get something really cheapo badly-made, I wouldn't worry about claw damage to the rug. But I'd never get anything fluffy or shag - imagine cleaning up cat throw-up from a shag. Yuck.

It is a wonderful kitchen, I would try to leave it alone as much as possible - that is, where things need to be replaced because they are not functional, worn, etc, replace them with something as close as possible to what is there. If you start replacing stuff with "vintage-y" components you'll end up with a 2000's era remodel, and then someone will come along in 2030 and say, "who ruined this wonderful kitchen with a 2000's makeover?"

The two greens are nice together. The red and the yellow I would lose.
