I hate to say it, because the space is really cool, but my 18mo girl is a little monkey with absolutely no fear. I could totally see my daughter scaling that railing.

Maybe a corrugated plastic wall or something? It would soften the light for naptime too, and provide someone mentioned. There's a triathlon store on 58th st with a corrucated plastic wall with lights inside. It looks really cool, and would fit with the whole industrial vibe.

I use olive oil instead of butter and baste a few times. If I'm feeling lazy, I just pour a little more olive oil on it. I've been doing it this way with chickens and turkeys for a few years and it works.

I used to do this with my grandfather in upstate NY, he had apple trees up on the hill and an antique cider press. If I ever move back upstate I want to do that with my kids.

BPA in canning jar lids shouldn't be too much of a problem, as you are supposed to leave some headspace anyway. The food doesn't really touch it unlike it does in a metal can.

We cover half of the stove because we have no counters at all. It means we can usually only use two burners at a time, but I do mostly simple cooking anyway, and pull out the extra burners for special occasions.
