I love the lockers idea, but I'd want to use them as lockers, not just for kitchen cooking stuff. Bottom 2 for the kids to stash their coat, backpack, etc. Top 2 for mom and dad (keys, wallet, gloves, etc.), and save the remaining 2 for whatever else. I'm sure locker-organizing technology is far more advanced than my middle-school days, and a DIYer could make some stylish and useful organizing of that narrow vertical space!
