They're not for everyone.
these come from a company is Spain that used to market them to catering companies before deciding to try out consumers directly.
personally, I've used them and they work fine, much sturdier and better looking than paper napkins, used them 6 times (washed 5 times in between) before they started to fray at the edges.
The colors are quite nice and, they come in 3 different sizes.

Work for me for the occasional cocktail/canape party where paper napkins look cheap and there are too many people invited to go get cotton ones that might get stained and ruined.

When their lifespan is up, toss them in the compost bin.

Americans are ruled by their wallets, not by "doing the right thing".
If you make the refills incredibly cheaper compared to buying a "comparibly-sized" bottled product, they will switch.

the problem with the whole thing is, who is the target customer? the rich, wont pay for over-priced, off-the-shelf furniture that just anyone can have, they'll go custom via an interior designer.
so, middle class wanna be's that live in "tuscan" mcmansions? maybe though if they are still trying to keep up with the Jones' they'll go to a designer as well...
prices aside, have you seen the SCALE of what's on offer? how large must a room be in order to accommodate one of their "small" sectionals? certainly not a room that any reader of this blog would have.
I'm all for reinvention but I think they're going in the wrong direction. they're going really BIG and PRICEY at a time that most consumers are going small and budget-conscious.
time will tell....

personally, I bought myself 2 nice sets of Missoni sheets to contrast with my dark wood furniture and dark blue walls.. a bit of fun that I can mix and match depending on my mood.... a plash of colour for the room.... zigzags are considered stripes, no?

the days of free media via internet are coming to an end... grumble all you want but get used to it. everyone thought the paying for music was never going to take off when you could get it for free from napster.... fast forward to today. while a minority still swaps free music the vast majority actually pays for it.... soon youtube will have to start paying royalties to the people that post, and, since every rerun on TV pays royalties to the actors in the shows being re-broadcast, what makes you think they won't demand payment for their work being distributed via the net? it's not a matter of IF we'll end up paying for all net media, it's a question of WHEN.
