Siri definitely becomes attuned to your voice the more that you use it. I've had no problems with it understanding me... until I let other people try it out. That seemed to throw her for a loop for a bit.

Having said that, I wouldn't judge the entire iPhone 4S based on that. It's seriously fast and the camera is killer. And if the headline is intended to be Siri-specific, it's poorly worded.

Kaete: Apple doesn't want you to change those alerts. Ever been in a crowded place and heard the "Glass" alert sound? You instantly knew someone else was using an iPhone. I'm convinced this is part of a brand awareness strategy.

I've owned the iPhone, the iPhone 3GS and now the iPhone 4 and I've loved them all. I've had a few quibbles with some of the things Apple does, but most of them are being fixed in iOS 5. I can live with the rest.

If you can live with Android, then I'm happy for you, too. I know a lot of people who've bought them and like them a lot. However, among my friends who have switched from an iPhone to Android, the majority are not pleased. Not all, but most. The level of polish just isn't there, according to them. Not in the hardware or the OS itself. I, personally, just have no interest.

I have a no-icon desktop on Mac OS X. I also keep my dock hidden. Nothing lives in it. Everything is launched via Alfred. For apps that need to give me feedback, I use menu bar utilities. My desktop is empty. There is no dock sucking up screen real estate. Bliss.

What's the photo at the top left of this post? I see the others described in the post, but not that one. Those look nifty.

Anyone got a model number for those Phillips headphones? I've looked everywhere and can't find them.

I started the switch to LED's this year. They were only $2 or $3 more per box and the LED's should burn out nearly as soon as regular bulbs.

In regard to your mom's white LED dilemma, I noticed yesterday that Philips makes a white LED set for Target in the "soft white" color which looks like a traditional white Christmas light. I'm not sure if it's available online, but they had them in the store.

We used the Amby Baby Bed (ambybaby.com) for the first seven months with our firstborn. It was amazing! He slept so peacefully and soundly. It was also great when we traveled. No matter where we went, we packed it in his bag and he got to sleep in his own bed. I couldn't be more pleased with it. Well worth the money.
