Stop your cats from clawing furniture! Simple method, which I only had to use a couple of times, before the cats learned not to damage the sofa. Double-back (sticky on both sides) scotch tape. Not only is it easy, leaves no residual, cheap it also gives you a little bit of harmless revenge for all the prior damage the cats have done to your furniture. Place small pieces (about 1 inch long) of double back tape on the area the cats like to claw. Don't worry about the tape being securely fastened to the sofa fabric. In fact, its better to only lightly attach the tape. When the cat goes to claw the sofa, sweet, sweet revenge. The tape sticks to the cats paws and no matter what the cat does to remove the tape, he can't. It's a real show to watch the cat try to free himself of the tape. It drives them crazy!! and usually only takes 1 or 2 times before the cat will not even go near the sofa, let alone try to claw it.
