Jennifer, I love the room. I have the same CB2 rug and have been looking for wall art for ages that would complement it. Where did you get that piece in your first picture? It's great! Apartment Therapy New York | Jennifer's Sophisticated Springtime Living Room Room for Color - East #27 |

Moni-ka, I like the idea of painting it dark, but just be careful with the dormer ceilings. If they are really low, the dark might be too much, but painting the ceiling and the walls the same color might help. But if they are high I say go for it! Apartment Therapy Chicago | CHI Open Thread: 92 |

quick question. I am going to repaint a dresser I have. It is a totally cheap piece (from Wal-mart) but it's 8 years old and in great condition! It's not solid wood, but I think I can sand down all of the surfaces in order to repaint it. My question is, what type of paint should I use to repaint it? I want to do a color not a stain. Do I use regular interior wall paint, or something else? Also is there a special primer to use? thanks! you guys are always sooo helpful! Apartment Therapy Chicago | CHI Open Thread: 89 |

Janella13, I just used a latex paint, I presumed it wasn't water-based because it didn't say it on the can, but upon further inspection, I realized duh... it is water-based. I am new to painting so forgive the ignorance! :) Apartment Therapy Chicago | CHI Open Thread: 89 |

I just painted my bedroom and realized i did not choose a water-based paint. I only painted it on Sunday but have had the windows open in these frigid temps and still there is an odor in the room. Any tips for getting rid of the smell? I used Glidden paint - I like the result, just not the smell. Apartment Therapy Chicago | CHI Open Thread: 89 |

If you chose the custom fabric you obviously at one point liked it so don't throw in the towel just yet! :) I think the lamps may be too "matchy matchy" with the sofa. Perhaps you can get different ones. Maybe in a metallic finish or a brown or even cream. I would suggest trying a color palette of cream and dark chocolate throw pillows, dark chocolate chairs, a rug that has some pattern to it but pulls in those three colors and even some punches of orange would look nice with the blue. The decor in person is beautiful. If you want a seat, make sure your whole party is there or they will only seat the number that are there at the time. The bouncer does seem standoffish at first but he is only doing his job. We had about 10 people coming but only three were there at the time. We went to the bar, and every time someone from the party came in, he was very accommodating about letting them right in to our spot. That could have been what the previous reader kept seeing when the girl were just breezing past the line. Apartment Therapy - Look!: Design at The Violet Hour |

I want to repaint a dresser I have. The problem is, I don't think its real wood. More like particle board and wood together, then coated in something. It's from Walmart from years ago, but still in great shape. But it has that cheapy manufactured feel. How would you recommend I treat it in order to paint it? sorry I can't be more specific about what its made of because I don't know. Apartment Therapy - Open Thread 83 |
