I agree with others - please let us actually see the space in the home tours and not just close-ups of cookies.
And I've always wondered why there is no requirement for a floor plan.

Living in a country (Switzerland) where the majority of people rent apartments I have always found this idea that you "have to buy" that other countries have (like the US or the UK) somewhat weird. Especially nowadays when people move around a lot (more so when they are younger) and you hear so much about people who can't afford their homes in the first place.

When I came to the end of the tour I was wondering where the rest of the pictures were... not really a house tour - more like an extended house call.
And I agree about the term curated - please find some other word to describe peoples homes, they don't live in museums.

With so little information about the restaurant I think it's impossible to give any real recommendations.
And I agree with others - if you don't know what you want to serve at your restaurant - don't open one.

I mean I agree that I don't want to see pictures of somebodys kids or of other people - why not just send nice holiday cards without the family photos.

I agree. But then again - at least there will be new fodder for awkwardfamilyphotos.com

Simple - if you ask for an RSVP state that anyone who doesn't RSVP within a given time frame will be understood as not coming. If they do show up - show them the door.

Beautiful home. Could you let me know who made the paintings above the smaller sofa? I really like them. Thank you.

How about painting it white? You still have the quality without the table being orangy, dark and it will also seem lighter in white.
I personally have a lot of Ikea furniture that I like and that has lasted a good while - and even if I might have spent more if I had more money I also don't just feel like i was settling for now to replace things later on.
At the end of the day I agree with others that what matters most is if you love the things you own, even if they might be cheap or not the most sturdy or even that practical. When it comes to our homes - does it really matter what others think you should or shouldn't do?

I never got the idea of a wedding registry these days.
Here in Europe where I live the trend has only come over in the last few years - I'm guessing from the US. But most ppl who get married are in their late 20s or even early 30s and probably have more then enough house hold items. My cousin asked for some contributions to their trip around the world at their wedding - an idea I liked as it would allow them to make memories together, not just get more stuff they don't need,
But then I don't get the huge weddings either where it seems to be more about stuff then about the person you are marrying.
When it comes to buying things I agree that "should" should be forgotten about - after all what is the use in buying it if you don't actually use it? It will only take up space and make you drown in stuff some day.

Well if you wanted to get peoples attention you succeeded. But honestly - this is really a turn off.
Yes, home is about more then just the right wall color or sofa, but this is stretching it WAY to far. Hope you go back to the old ways - but I have to say in general the content of AT hasn't been so great the past few months and I'm sure this kind of post isn't going to help.

While i love the palate and some of the vignettes of the after I too would have liked more overall shots of the place.
Also, when I saw the old kitchen I was hoping that they would restore it and incorporate the old with the new. Now it seems like all that was left of the old house (which to me had it's charm) is the shell and nothing else. That being said - maybe it was in too bad condition to save?

To be honest I don't see the "fun" in a picture of people killing each other - and i especially wouldn't want it in my bedroom. And it makes me kind of sad that nobody thinks of what is behind a picture like this - killing and suffering.

The Lamp (both original and knock-off) I just find tacky - but better then the picture as it actually does somewhat make fun of people and their obsessions with guns.

When I see parents who constantly pamper their kids - picking up after them, doing every thing for them - I always think that they are doing them a huge disservice. And I also think that parents are doing themselves a disservice.
Yes, as a young child you don't usually enjoy doing chores - but do the parents? I always had to help - but I also wanted to learn and do things myself, I was very independent - but as I got older (my father died when I was 12) and it was just my mother (who worked full time) and me I felt that it would not have been fair on her if she would have to do all the housework while I sat in front of the TV. I think by making kids help doing household chores you are also teaching them to respect the people you live with, which as a child are your parents and later on roommates or your partner.

Also - where else are they suppose to learn how to clean, cook or iron a shirt?

Just one of the many reasons why I don't tweet or follow twitter. Seriously - why should I care what someone eats for breakfast, lunch or dinner?
If I want to be inspired to try something new I'll read a food blog - on my own time and not get interrupted a gazillion times a day with useless updates.

Tomatosauce, Vegi-Bolognese, Risotto, Veggi-Curry, Pancakes

I do check the recipe with most baked goods but could probably get some right if I tried without.

I agree on the books (or anything else) just as props and the brightly colored furniture. I don't mind MCM too much if it's done well and doesn't feel like a film set (but then any home that feels like a film set isn't right).
Never understood books by color (pretty yes - but impractical).

Other design things I can't stand:
- too many pillows!!! If it takes you half an hour to go to bed because of too many pillows it's time to get rid of them, the same if you can't sit on the sofa because of too many pillows.
- taxidermy: what is hip about having dead animals on your walls or shelves? Nothing
- Words like 'love' or 'home': yes you like love and this is your home, no need to spell it out.
- I like well done DIY but often (on ikea hacker) it just looks like a cheap plastic bowl that is being used as a lamp and not actually a cool lamp.

I would check out unclutterer.com which also has a great online community. I also recently bought the book "unclutter your life in one week" that gives you a step by step to unclutter/organize your home/work space and found it helpful.

While I love my Kindle I prefer my magazines (and anything with pictures really) in print. I spend enough time in front of the pc as it is and it's nice to sit on the sofa or lie in bed with a new magazine.
I've got UK Elle interior and am now going to get the UK Living etc. Plus a bi-weekly local Womens magazine.
