Well if you wanted to get peoples attention you succeeded. But honestly - this is really a turn off.
Yes, home is about more then just the right wall color or sofa, but this is stretching it WAY to far. Hope you go back to the old ways - but I have to say in general the content of AT hasn't been so great the past few months and I'm sure this kind of post isn't going to help.

While i love the palate and some of the vignettes of the after I too would have liked more overall shots of the place.
Also, when I saw the old kitchen I was hoping that they would restore it and incorporate the old with the new. Now it seems like all that was left of the old house (which to me had it's charm) is the shell and nothing else. That being said - maybe it was in too bad condition to save?

To be honest I don't see the "fun" in a picture of people killing each other - and i especially wouldn't want it in my bedroom. And it makes me kind of sad that nobody thinks of what is behind a picture like this - killing and suffering.

The Lamp (both original and knock-off) I just find tacky - but better then the picture as it actually does somewhat make fun of people and their obsessions with guns.

When I see parents who constantly pamper their kids - picking up after them, doing every thing for them - I always think that they are doing them a huge disservice. And I also think that parents are doing themselves a disservice.
Yes, as a young child you don't usually enjoy doing chores - but do the parents? I always had to help - but I also wanted to learn and do things myself, I was very independent - but as I got older (my father died when I was 12) and it was just my mother (who worked full time) and me I felt that it would not have been fair on her if she would have to do all the housework while I sat in front of the TV. I think by making kids help doing household chores you are also teaching them to respect the people you live with, which as a child are your parents and later on roommates or your partner.

Also - where else are they suppose to learn how to clean, cook or iron a shirt?

Just one of the many reasons why I don't tweet or follow twitter. Seriously - why should I care what someone eats for breakfast, lunch or dinner?
If I want to be inspired to try something new I'll read a food blog - on my own time and not get interrupted a gazillion times a day with useless updates.

Tomatosauce, Vegi-Bolognese, Risotto, Veggi-Curry, Pancakes

I do check the recipe with most baked goods but could probably get some right if I tried without.

I agree on the books (or anything else) just as props and the brightly colored furniture. I don't mind MCM too much if it's done well and doesn't feel like a film set (but then any home that feels like a film set isn't right).
Never understood books by color (pretty yes - but impractical).

Other design things I can't stand:
- too many pillows!!! If it takes you half an hour to go to bed because of too many pillows it's time to get rid of them, the same if you can't sit on the sofa because of too many pillows.
- taxidermy: what is hip about having dead animals on your walls or shelves? Nothing
- Words like 'love' or 'home': yes you like love and this is your home, no need to spell it out.
- I like well done DIY but often (on ikea hacker) it just looks like a cheap plastic bowl that is being used as a lamp and not actually a cool lamp.

I would check out unclutterer.com which also has a great online community. I also recently bought the book "unclutter your life in one week" that gives you a step by step to unclutter/organize your home/work space and found it helpful.

Unless they are very personal (most holiday cards are generic) I would just throw them away. Letters of course are another matter all together.

While I love my Kindle I prefer my magazines (and anything with pictures really) in print. I spend enough time in front of the pc as it is and it's nice to sit on the sofa or lie in bed with a new magazine.
I've got UK Elle interior and am now going to get the UK Living etc. Plus a bi-weekly local Womens magazine.

Over time - maybe. While I love my kindle I don't think all books will be able to go digital, especially ones that contain pictures. Put I do think people will buy less printed books and so more and more homes will have less books (on display).

I bought a new pillow at an expensive pillow shop a few months ago as I have neck problems and wanted something for that. They lady there actually said that pillows need to be replaced far more often (I think every 2-3 years it was) then mattresses as we sweat, drool ect. into them the most. Mine has a center that cannot be washed but the padded part outside can. If you can't wash your pillow I would say it should be tossed. But you can also buy slightly padded covers that over more protection - I have some of those for other pillows from Ikea.

Are you planing to sell anytime soon? If not, I would do what suits you and makes you happy. After all, is that the great thing about owning a home vs. renting where you have make do with what you have?
Plus I think in a small space like yours saving space with a shower makes more sense.

Probably every other spot on earth has a dark history - after all humans have lived here for millions of years and most things that have ever happened on the ground we walk on we'll never even have an inkling of.
Only when you do know the history of a place does it affect you and those thoughts have a life of their own in your mind. What of all those horrible things that you don't know about that still happen behind closed doors? Those won't affect your decision.

Probably in this case i would buy the house, but as every place and it's (known) history is different, I don't think I could make a general statement.

Honestly, if you don't want to put on weight the only real thing is not to eat too much (crap).

Another thing to keep in mind with grapefruit is that it can affect a lot of drugs, so if you are taking medication check it before you eat/drink grapefruits.

Yes, the intro is not very well thought out: after all today most "wifies" go to work as well.

While dried fruit is certainly easier to carry then fresh fruit it also has a lot more sugar (yes, the healthy kind but it's still sugar) and therefor calories. So why not cut up fresh fruit and put it in the tupperware instead?
