I would not recommend the splashbacks in the first pic as you can't put them near the stove top as they can melt and distort and the tiles will only look good for a short time because grout stains so easily and is difficult to clean. If you really want tiles you can get products from good hardware stores to seal the grout.

I think the glass splashbacks are very sleek and modern and relatively easy to clean (like windows). You can also use granite for splashbacks (the same as what they use for granite overlay benchtops), you will need to speak to your local cabinet maker for that. My personal favourite is raw pressed tin (like what they used on ceilings in old houses. You can get many different designs and is very easy to clean and will match in if you have any stainless appliances.
