Sara Kate - What a great post....I couldn't agree with you more on the importance of getting your kids into the kitchen with you. Of all the things we do for our kids, to me, none is more important than educating them not only about what to eat, for their own health as well as that of our planet, but also how to prepare their food themselves. My kids are a bit older than yours (10, 12, 13, 15, 17), so the days of fighting to get them to eat "new" things are largely behind me. These days our time together in the kitchen is spent teaching techniques and helping them to build their confidence as fledgling cooks by cooking "real" food. We have a lot of fun together.
