I answered #3 -- what albums? but my plan is to go back and create albums for each year -- starting with 2004 when my son was born, and we bought our digital camera.

I selected Montessori as a response, but it's a public school Montessori.

Another Charlie's Soap user here-- for all our clothes and cloth diapers. Their web site has some helpful hints on washing as well. I love their tag line: "if you want flowers, go pick some!"

Tub trugs work well. Good for handwashing, holding laundry dirty or clean, toy storage, hat and mitten storage, etc. etc. I saw them first on Apartment Therapy and I now have quite a collection--all in active use!

I bought the Baby Bjorn Babysitter for my first child and am still using it for my second. I like the three settings. A newborn can rest in it without slumping. It's very easy for the baby to make it bounce, and the wooden bears and balls are easy for the baby to spin once he or she can reach. It folds completely flat, which is useful for storage in between kids. The fabric seat removes easily and washes well-- I thoroughly tested that out due to my daughter's explosive poops as a tiny baby! We didn't end up using the chair all the way until my son was 2 because he had a tendency to climb to the top of the seat and bounce. My daughter may be different. We'll see.

I've been lurking for a couple of years but am finally starting to make comments, and I just signed up to do the Cure. I need all the motivation I can get so I thought I'd make it official. Just signed up for a Flickr account. Now, all I have to do is figure out how to download pictures from my camera. Yes, I'm coming out of the Dark Ages, I know.

We did a major kitchen renovation in Fall 2006 and repainted and relit the whole first floor while we were at it. Then in 2007, we had child #2. So now, I'm thinking I'm ready to get back to finishing off--I'm looking at it as the remaining 25%--although I could be wrong--things like putting pictures back up, working out the dining room chairs issue, and figuring out what goes on the mantelpiece.

And how about the end paragraph where the guests started criticizing the hostess for her eco-sins in decorating? I am concerned about environmental issues and over-consumption and am working to correct things in my own household, but I certainly wouldn't want to hang out with those people!

Handy for a baby carrier, stroller, or car seat. I would definitely use it all three ways for my daughter.

I've also found the Sears' Baby Book and the Weissbluth sleep book helpful. To these suggestions, I would add: T.Berry Brazelton's Touchpoints: Birth to 3, which focuses on the different stages of development and gives some good coping strategies. With my second baby, the free diaper bag from the hospital included Kathleen Huggins' The Nursing Mother's Companion, which I've consulted a few times--even with it being the second time around. Also, someone gave me Great Books for Babies and Toddlers by Kathleen Odean--a guide to children's books. I myself had a book baby shower for the same reasons of already getting hand-me-downs and not wanting too much random stuff. We're still enjoying the books we received. I would totally throw some books for the baby in with the parenting books. I could give a big list of those, but I think that's another whole topic!

My three-year-old is obsessed with the trash. So one of his games involves gathering up containers, designating them as trash, recycling, and yard waste and filling them with his toys (standing in for actual trash), lining them up by the fireplace and then dumping them into a living room chair (trash truck).
He pretends to ride on the chair as though he's hanging on to the back of the trash truck. All of this accompanied by a running narrative of what he's doing. So this is a very long winded way of saying I'm sure he would incorporate the pocket pillow into his game.
