This is the first house I have seen where the owners have kept part of the original tile work & made it look beautiful. I am truly impressed. You should be very proud of your work.

Two! And, rusty red door... I don't know what the growing seasons are like in LA, but throw some plant color in the front yard! It will soften up the whole entry. Also, get some fertilizer (organic) on those vines attached to the trellis. Good luck and congrats on being a home owner!

I appreciate the support and comments! Thank you! I never thought I might make someone want to lick their monitor...

Wende, copyrighting furniture is virtually impossible, unfortunately... But, copying is the greatest form of flattery right? And to be a truly great designer/artist, one should just keep trying to develop new ideas....

Thank you for the support, everyone! Its been great to see all the projects people are coming up with. And, I'm glad you like my project! For 'The Teal Sea''s question- The frame is hand sanded. An orbital sander wouldn't be able to get into all the detailing and would be too aggressive for this application.

Not only is he handsome, but as friend, I can say that Scott is a great woodworker and an all around awesome guy. Good luck, Scott!
And people,... buy his work! Excellent craftsmanship, nice proportions, quality materials, locally made... What else can you ask for?

A lacquer finish on brass never stands the test of time. The cheapest, pretty fix would be to:
1. Remove all handles and soak in lacquer thinner for a couple of nights. (You can buy this at any hardware store.)
2. Buy gun metal blue or bronze finish online. (about $30 for the amount you would need.) This finish gives brass a warm finished look & ages well over time.
3. Follow directions on packages. You must work fast & it is stinky & bad for you.
4. You will have a beautiful finish on the handles, which you can either cover with a thin wax coat or leave bare & have it rub off over time in the areas you touch.
Good luck!
