I love Ikat. I was first turned onto it in 70s in Bali. Some of the faux ikat is hideous. This mirror is inspiring. Great idea.

Yuzu kosho. I discovered it when I started cooking with the donabe. I was inspired by the cookbook, Japanese Hot Pots which I read about here. It is a big ingredient in their second cookbook, The Japanese Grill.

Everyone shouls at least once, debone the bird , stuff it and roll it. It is not the most easiest but certainly is the most memorable and has a few bonuses, such as no bickering about the white Vs. Dark meat and more room in the refrigerator. I used the Martha Stewart recipe with Todd English.

Loved the memorable meal. I had a midwife for my second child and we planted the placenta and put a rose over it. But the frozen chicken pieces that was used to freeze the area where I tore was cooked later and enjoyed.

My mother used to say,"If you can read, you can cook. Most people can't read." Mind you she also said that about sewing as well! A couple of years ago my daughters and I took a cooking class in Ubud, Bali. It was a great way to make friends and get the lowdown on the great places to eat in Ubud.

Watch the expressions on their faces! One of the best offerings from Masterpiece. I love the background for Masterpiece Mystery--the black and white, touch of red. It would make a great piece of fabric for a skirt!

After getting the cookbook, Japanese Hot Pots I have been experimenting. The difference lies in the fact that the ingredients are either sliced thin or partially cooked meaning fermented and the cooking time is under 30 minutes. You can use Le Creset on the top of the stove as an alternate donabe.

Paltrow is the tofu of celebrities. Oops, she's a country singer. Oops she's a cookbook author. Reminds me of Jane Fonda's cookbook when she was with Ted Turner. I am saving my money so that when it hits the 99 cent store I can buy it then. Fonda's book was there.

On yesterday's episode, Venetia made a potholder in the strict sense of the word. She used/sewed a great piece of old Japanese indigo fabric and stuffed it with bay leaves and cloves. A knot in the center kept the spices in place. She used a ribbon to hang it in her kitchen. The ceramic pot filled with soup sat on it on the table as the aromatics wafted into the diner's noses. I want to make one!
