I've developed a healthy addiction to Fiestaware, and it's one thing that I still love after 15 years of collecting it. I only buy it on sale and put my favorite and antique pieces in a glass-door bookcase in my dining room. It just makes me happy.

The best Thanksgivings I've had have been with friends rather than family. Maybe that says something about my family...but I'm betting I'm not alone!

Not sure if this falls under proper etiquette, but what about beverage choices, or lack thereof? Is it poor form, or just weird, to serve only water for the main meal and coffee during dessert? I attend family holiday dinners where these are the only options, and I wonder if I'm alone in thinking it's a little strange. To my knowledge nobody attending is in recovery, but I'm speaking of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options.

Your paint color choices are fantastic. I liked the teal in the kitchen--looks really sharp with the white cabinets and checkerboard tile.

But that said, Winnie takes the cake.

Logan should go into business! Depending on the cost, I'd definitely consider one of these (but just need a bench/shoe rack). Nice job!

Not even a year after I moved out, my parents announced that they bought a BIGGER house a few streets over from the one my sister and I grew up in. But by bigger, I don't mean palatial--one with more than one toilet, a two-car garage, and a family room--although as a homeowner myself without any of those "extras," I consider that palatial. :)

Felix Doolittle has a cool selection as well, and I've ordered their return address labels as gifts. www.felixdoolittle.com.

Re: "We" and "I"--totally understand. If you email Felix, they can customize the card as needed. I didn't take my husband's name when we got married, so "The Hills" didn't work for us, but "Amy and Jonathan" did. The company was very accommodating.

What an interesting tour! Like many others, I'm truly impressed with how Luke makes this work, and he was so charming in the video.

Perhaps he mentioned it and I missed it, but are those ALL of his possessions, or does he have stuff in storage somewhere (parents' home, storage facility, etc.)?

(Hey AT, more video tours, please!)

Pittsburgh is very sadly behind the times when it comes to pet-friendly apartments...but I'm speaking from experience of looking in certain neighborhoods, not on the whole. In our last place, if we wanted a cat it was a $500 non-refundable deposit PLUS $50 a month. A CAT! We actually sped up the homebuying process just so we could get a dog, since we weren't able to find a decent place that allowed them (note to landlords--not all tenants are slobs who don't take care of their animals).

Our experience in Tampa, Florida, though, was different--our apt. complex allowed our 90-lb chocolate Lab and we only had to pay a pet deposit--which was refunded after we moved out, minus a standard carpet cleaning fee.

I'm not saying that all pet-owning tenants are perfect, but most animals aren't as destructive or noisy as, say, children. :) *ducks*

OMG, House Voyeur, that cracked me up. I too have fallen victim to The Perm. But I blame Alyssa Milano--when she was on Who's the Boss, her hair was so awesome and I thought if I got a wavy perm I could look just like her. Instead I looked like Pauly Shore. :)

My contribution supports everyone's filing system idea--once a year, clean out your files. I generally pick a cold, snowy day, plop down in front of a football game on TV, and shred the hell out of old bills, receipts, etc. that I no longer need. Invest in a decent shredder, and you'll be amazed at how gratifying it is to bid farewell to old paperwork!

00tester, that is one awesome picture.

Our boxer mix rescue never went on our furniture until my husband broke his leg and convalesced in the guest room. He decided that it would be nice to invite the dog up on the bed with him. So now that the husband's healed, it's now Norman's Bed, which has led to Norman's Couch and now Norman's Second Bed, which is our bed.

Wouldn't be a big deal except he's got a wee bit of an incontinence issue...so now we have to Norm-proof the furniture at all times. :)

I realize I'm a day late (and probably a dollar short), but Steyer's in Philadelphia is pretty great. For various reasons I only had about 10 minutes to walk around, but it was enough to make me consider driving 4.5 hours from Pittsburgh just to hang out there a little more!

I WHOLEHEARTEDLY second/third/fourth the smoking complaints. AT--could this be an article subject on its own, so we can share some problem-solving ideas?

I'm a city dweller, and the houses on my street are only 36 inches apart. Our neighbor sits on his back porch and smokes day in, day out--even in the winter, he's chillin' with a hot toddy and his smokes. (Doesn't smoke in the house.) As a result, we don't open the windows in the back of our house, and we even switched bedrooms so that we could sleep in a room where we can open a window. My husband finally asked him if he could smoke elsewhere after 10 p.m. on summer nights (we don't have air conditioning) and he was open to it, which we very much appreciated. But now, we are redoing our backyard and patio and I'm so sad because unless he's not home, I don't even want to be out there breathing all the secondhand smoke. As a result, I don't see us living here long-term, which bums me out because I like our house and I like the neighborhood. I know it's a free country and the guy can do what he wants on his own property within reason, but it's infringing on our rights too...right?
