I'm wondering, since this couple loves DIY so much, whether the coveted magazine rack was one of their projects. It reminds me of a kid's bookshelf, popular in preschools/daycare. I'm wondering whether this couple simply attached one of these bookcases to a stand? Dana's Bungalow Beautification House Call |

This is terrific! I absolutely love this idea - for both my son and daughter. Both spend hours playing with their cars and trains so I could see making one for each and keeping them busy while waiting for doctor's appointment's, in the car, etc. I'm going to go have a look at the tutorial now ... Awesome! Thanks for the heads up. I've been hoping their book comes down in price since I find their style and approach so inspirational. You're right in that most of us don't have the resources to do the kind of renovations they do or have the space that they do, but their decorating style is eclectic and I like that! Tee-hee. Laughing at comments by avimom and LemonCadet. I think having a cluttered closet/basement/spare room/fill-in-the-blank room is almost normal since so many people have one. In our home, we've mainly contained it to the garage, our large master walk-in closet and the back part of our entry hall. OK, I guess we haven't really "cotained" anything! But we continue to work on it ... Where's Your Clutter? | Apartment Therapy Ohdeedoh |

Love this! Absolutely adore the book pages on the wall and the art hanging from the ceiling. So inspired and apt for this book nook. Simple yet cozy. Apartment Therapy ohdeedoh | Audrey and Whitaker's Reading Nook |

Great idea. Usually, I just toss out suggestions verbally and see which ones the kids go for. This one looks more fun. Also could be done once a year and kept as a memento of activities we did. Would be fun in the future to look back on how we spent our days. Apartment Therapy ohdeedoh | Good Idea: The Summer List |

Depending on the kids' age, a picture dictionary, a small calendar, envelopes, simple homemade books (stapled, sewn or held together w/yarn) for them to fill out and maybe attach some photos or their own artwork for them to make their own picture book. I love the alphabet board and the puffy white pillows, which make me think they symbolize clouds and encourage daydreaming. Apartment Therapy ohdeedoh | Playroom Closet |

Oh, these are great! I love all these ideas. My littlest one is too young still to have any writing instruments at her ready disposal but I've been creating a small, mobile "writing center" for my soon-to-be four-year-old son. No. 3 is my favorite. Looks cozy and comfortable, not so much for show as the others. Apartment Therapy Chicago | At-Home Escapes: Real-Life Reading Nooks |

Love how this looks but have to agree that I would prefer an actual sofa or lounge chair to sit and read for a couple hours....unless I'm just perusing the paper or hanging with my kids. Apartment Therapy Chicago | The World's Most Beautiful Window Seat? |

I absolutely love all the vintage touches throughout, especially the typewriter collection, game boards and sign above the glider. Funny, I have the magnet set that makes up the Cavallini poster and thought at first they had magnets, too, and put them all together in one frame...gave me an idea. Of course, the most inspired idea is the baby photos. A great touch and one that can migrate to other parts of the home once baby grows up and no longer wants on his walls! lovely idea but how do people w/young kids (3 and under) find the time to clean, much less spring clean, or even time to read a 68-page book on cleaning. Apartment Therapy ohdeedoh | Spring Cleaning Tips from TLC |

This is waay cool. What a great idea and very apt for those of us who just can't have enough books around. But with two little ones (ages 1 and 3), I'm afraid I just don't have the time to devote so much time to a project so I, too, will have to find another less time consuming way to get artwork like this. Inspiring to see the transformation from blah to warm, colorful and inviting. I've been wanting to do something similar to this with my kids' kitchen nook area, which currently looks like Summer's "before" photo. And, I've got the same exact table/chair set. It's great to have those work-in-progress shots and the tips are handy. Thank you! Apartment Therapy ohdeedoh | How To: Make a Chalkboard Art Space Summer's February Jumpstart Project 2009 |
