I use an old soup can and keep it in the refrigerator. When it's full I throw it out in the trash. I also keep a crock in the the refrigerator for bacon grease. I don't cook bacon that often but when I do I save the grease so I can use it to flavor other things. What a terrifc idea! I have a collection of tins and the perfect window. For larger plants you could use the tins that steel cut oatmeal comes in. I'm concerned, however, about rust but I'm thinking I could melt a little parafin and line the inside of the tins.
