I would LOVE to live next to this place! It would cheer me up every time I looked at it.

Er, I mean my grandparents. Although my parents had a "Footprints" print, so ...

Yes! There was a female version of grace - it's called Gratitude. My parents had this one too:

Oh, and if we're sharing ones that we're tired of ... I dislike that Tatinger poster with the woman and the champagne glass. That's so mass-market Bed Bath & Beyond art department to me.

And a few friends and I have sworn to never let each other buy a print that has the museum name at the bottom in a big white border.

Oh my! My grandparents had the praying print also. And if I remember correctly, there was also a female one??

I used to get the mini paint cans from the Container Store, but they don't carry them anymore.

Man, I'm bummed ... I've been working forever to get my whole place into a cool color flow so I can enter and now it's just a ROOM contest, which doesn't work for my layout - the whole place together is what makes it color fun. Ho hum. I guess I missed my chance for the color contest. ;-(

When my parents lived in Vienna, IKEA was definitely the big place to go to. I remember my mom once telling me that "anyone who's anyone has an IKEA card". And I don't mean a credit card ... they actually have valued-customer cards in other countries.

I wouldn't say it's a status symbol here, though. Although i think a lot of people look at IKEA as a status to pass. As in I-finally-have-a-grown-up-place-now-that-I-don't-have-any-more-IKEA-furniture.

Daytime storms are my favorite thing EVER. Seriously. I go completely wild if I wake up on a Sunday that I don't have to go anywhere and it is totally gearing up for a thunderstorm outside. It's the ultimate in coziness.

I would like to see Emily's style too. Don't they have next-door duplexes?

As many New Yorkers, I see Seinfeld at least twice a day since it's on at least 5 or 6 times on various syndication channels. Needless to say, I've seen them all at least 10 times. ;-) They only took the subway on a few episodes, and I too, thought that was weird that they all had cars. I only know four people total who have cars and they all live in Brooklyn or Queens where there are reasonable places to park and where you can't get around everywhere on the subway.

The episode with the new kitchen cabinets was pretty fantastic. That was the same one where George wanted to be able to nap under his desk at work.

As for more about the new set, if you have HBO on demand, watch the Curbed Making Of special about it. It's pretty cool to see how much of the old set they were able to get back. Most of it is there with the exception of the wall with the Jerry's front door. He took that home when the show initially wrapped.

Also, from what I read, the Seinfeld reunion arch is apparently a part of 5 Curbed episodes, not just one.

Love the knobs on that desk! And the wall color is delish.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again ... the George Nelson desk is unbelievably dreamy. I just wish I had a need/space for another desk. ;-(

Can we put a moratorium on anything referred to as "Mad Men" era? This is a design blog with pretty good cred... can't you just save the mainstream bandwagon descriptions for say... People Magazine? I think pretty much most of the people here know what an Eichler is. That's all you had to say.

Sorry to be mean about it, but it has been driving me up the wall the last couple of years seeing every form of media trying to tie-into or cash-in-on "Mad Men". I expect better here.

This gives me the creeps in the same way that episode of Bones about the fetish club for people who like to pretend they're horses during sex did. I guess those people go here for vacation.

AlexHoogeveen, but it looked like an apartment a guy like that would have, which was brilliant. I'm tired of fancy schmancy sitcom sets that the characters in them would never put together themselves (and likely wouldn't even be able to afford). That of course, does not include Frasier. He's was spot on for his character.

I think this is one case in which you CAN judge a book by its cover. If the cover is not designed well, why would anyone pick it up and read and then ultimately follow the design advice. Common sense.

And in that case, no, the negative comments AREN'T tough. If this were a parenting magazine, perhaps they would be, but for a design mag ... the cover is its own resumé (or audition).

This reminds me of Real Housewives of NY, when Jill wanted to redo her condo and her husband(?) designerfriend(?) said "but you just did the condo." And she says, "yes, but this was when I was traditional and now I want to be midcentury girl." (I'm paraphrasing from memory.)

Maybe now she (and others like her) will want to be first-apartment girl and throw away all of her faux hi-end mid-c stuff to overspend on faux "used" hi-end "old-timey" stuff.

Ha! Thanks, fiatlex, for the link. I think I'll stay far away from this film. Nice to see A.O. Scott has the same annoyance with these concepts as I do. "Full-fledged publishing genre", indeed.
