I have a Lodge too. My advice is just not to overthink it. Shop around and buy whatever feels comfortable in your hands. A 10-inch cast iron skillet, new, should be <$30. A lifetime piece at a bargain price--if the first one you get doesn't work for you for whatever reason, return it if you can, and if not, on to a different model. Hi Kim! Just yesterday my partner and I put together simmer pot kits for the 20 or so people in his office. We got cellophane bags and scrapbook paper to fold over and staple at Hobby Lobby (any craft store will do), and in each bag is two cinnamon sticks, two vanilla bean halves, about 2 teaspoons of whole cloves, and two slices of dried lemon or orange. (We borrowed a food dehydrator, but you can also do the fruit in the oven). Then on the paper we just wrote a quick note of "Happy Holidays" and instructions (simmer contents in water and your house will smell great) and stapled it over the folded down bag. We are on a serious budget this year, so I'm happy with this idea as thoughtful and homemade, but without the worry of food allergies and/or people who don't eat sweets, etc. Holiday Gift Ideas for Large Group at Work? Aglio e olio! (Spaghetti, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, optional pepper flake & parm.) I use America's Test Kitchen's recipe, but they're all over the web. ATK's recipe cooks most of the garlic in the olive oil, but another portion gets added in at the end. Those preparations together make for strong garlic flavor! I do almost exactly this except my jars are a bit bigger and the lids are opaque white, so I labeled the top of each one with its contents. And they're alphabetized, of course. I also have fewer spices than her, it seems, so I have several empty jars in the back to grow into as my spice collection grows. A Truly Organized Spice Drawer Reader Kitchen Project |

The dessert pictured is No-Bake Boston Cream Pie Strata, which is delicious and easy. The recipe here on the Kitchn calls for a boiled frosting, I think, but I use a ganache (1.5:1 chocolate:cream ratio). Really anything where ganache is a star (if you're into chocolate, of course) could work for you. I've seen a couple recipes around the web for "no bake chocolate cake" that is basically a firm ganache cooled in a loaf pan and cut into slices. I just got a rendering of my childhood home done for my mom for Christmas from here: http://www.jennifermdesign.com and now feel like I got a bargain! ($55 for 5 x 7). Also, according to her Etsy shop, Rebekka Seale is not taking orders until further notice. Inspiring Idea: Home Portraits |

We are sort of struggling with something similar in our kitchen, where there is pink carpet in the eat-in part and some lovely vinyl flooring with pink flowers and a beige grid pattern in the rest of the room. Those will come up with the kitchen gut job we're planning for a few years down the road, but for now we're trying to make the best of the situation and find a paint to complement (or at least not clash with) both the kitchen issues and the grey/green tones elsewhere in the house. So we're looking for a greige (sorry if that's cliche)--I currently have Benjamin Moore Classic Collection strips 115, 118, and 119 taped to the wall, and I think we're focusing in on Mocha Cream. Good luck! Will Grey Paint Color Work with Tan Sofa? Good Questions |

Cosign on MelanieQ's comment. We've switched to Mrs. Meyer's dryer sheets after trying "Static Eliminator" sheets and felted wool balls, neither of which reduced static to our liking (hubby haaaates static). So now we use Mrs. Meyer's dryer sheets--compostable/biodegradable, no animal products, work wonderfully! I wonder if they'd work for this baseboard thing.
