A digital scale if you're serious about baking (also stand mixer), tongs, whisk, and a flexible rubber-shaped spatula would be the things I'd add to that list.

I also love Deirdre625's suggestion of parchment paper. I use it constantly, but it's more out of preference than need. There are other things (silpats) that get the job done well.

If you have ventilation above your stove, make a habit of always turning it on whenever using a burner. Turn it off only when the last burner is off.

Thin crust pizza with roasted garlic and red pepper, pepperoni, portabello mushrooms and mozzarella is for lunch today.

Churned some vanilla with raspberry swirl ice cream last night, and am in the middle of making two cookies for friends/family this weekend: chocolate chip with walnut and choco-chewy meringues (to use the leftover egg whites from ice cream.)

Today's hot lunch (and tomorrow's cold leftovers) will be Greek pizza, using the thin crust dough recipe from this here website. Artichokes, olives, tomatoes, anchovies and capers, a little red sauce (recipe also from thekitchn,) and some feta should do it. I'm just getting into making pizza doughs/breads/yeasted things, and was floored by how simple this pizza dough was to make, especially with a stand mixer.

Also making chocolate chip cookies with walnuts for a party tomorrow. The recipe is from David Lebovitz' "Ready for Dessert," and is my new go-to choco cookie recipe.

@stepinhoney

I use my Whirley Pop several times a week, and agree...it does work magic, easy to use, and is super simple to keep clean (soak in hot water for a couple of minutes - no soap, wipe clean with a cloth, let dry....)

I've yet to mess up a batch in it. We love making kettle corn (very popular at game nights and parties -- our friends request it) and it's deliciously simple to make. I'm not big on uni-task kitchen tools, but this one is our go to snack maker, and rarely spends much time on a shelf.

I use a Whirley-Pop stovetop popcorn pot, and I swear, I get 1-2 unpopped kernels at most per batch, and never burnt!

1/2 cup of corn, 1-2 tablespoons of veggie, canola or olive oil, medium high heat for about 3-4 minutes, till the kernels slow down to a few pops per second.

I make a lot of regular (salted/seasoned) and kettle (sweet/salty) popcorn on a regular basis, and even with the kettle corn, which is a touch more finicky because of the addition of sugar to the popping process, it couldn't be any easier, or foolproof.

I'm a big fan of Julia Child's Butterflied Roast Chicken recipe from "The Way to Cook."

It's as simple as anything, and can be adapted to add wet seasoning rubs, any roasted vegetable, and requires no trussing, racks, or butcher twine.

I make this at least once a week, and it's a no-fail dish in my house.

A version of that recipe is here:

These are the latest thing these days. And they have a spiffy name: Magic Corner cabinet!

Ours are made by Kessebohmer, and the rear shelves push forward (in addition to sliding left) when the door is opened fully.

I'm a big fan of the corner turnout cabinets, they use a simpler pivot/glide movement, and usually have a half round shaped shelf. Some of the turnouts we've used have shelves shaped like a peanut, which hugs the corner better.

Great corner solution!
