Short videos or a pictorial on tips and techniques would be great, with inclusion on using your senses and examples. For example, a video on how to make a roux, and a detailed explanation of how you know when it's done (e.g., what does it look like, how does it smell and taste, what exactly does it mean when they say roux is done when it no longer smells raw). Another example -- if you're making mayonnaise or hollandaise, show me what it looks like when the sauce has broken. Got a Question for Reader Request Week? To follow up on Karaakins' request on harvesting herbs, it would be great to see the focus on common herbs like basil, parsley, cilantro, thyme, oregano, etc. In particular, how do you know when to cut them, where on the plant do you cut them, what does "bolting" and "going to seed" mean and can you show me what it looks like, is it bad if the plants are flowering, etc. Got a Question for Reader Request Week? One of my favorites is a Rose' for only $4.99! It's called Quinson Fils Cotes de Provence Rose'. It's pale pink and lighter body, perfect for a warm day. (Although I drink it during the winter, too.) It reminds me of the rose's served at cafes in the south of France. I'm in Northern California, so I don't know if it's sold in the East. 7 Budget-Friendly Spring Wines from the Trader Joe's Wine Shop |

I second the Bionaturae brand of whole wheat pasta. Texturewise, it is the closest to white pasta that I've tried, and I've tried many whole wheat brands. It is a little more expensive than the Whole Foods or Trader Joe's brands, so I try to buy it on sale or or at Amazon. What's Your Favorite Storebought Pasta? |

Here's another recipe for grilled buffalo wings. I always marinate the wings per his recipe. And I often skip the hot wing sauce at the end. Yes, they would taste better with the sauce, but they're pretty darned good without it. Heart-Healthy Recipe for Buffalo Chicken Wings? Good Questions |

No, I don't trust these sites and that's why I don't use them. But I have to wonder - is the concept of these sites all that different from other sites where our data is stored on third party servers? For example, Yahoo mail and Gmail are stored in the cloud, and emails can contain a huge amount of personal and sensitive data. Yet you don't hear much about security concerns there. What is the difference? Do You Trust "Protected" Websites? |

Anita83, do a search on the Cookware forum of Chowhound. There was recently discussion about the copper cookware from Homegoods/TJ Maxx. In fact, there are a lot of posts about copper. How Can You Not Love Copper Housewares? |

Wonderful kitchen, Amanda! Thanks for sharing with us. Quick question - I noticed the dishwasher isn't immediately to the right of the sink but has drawers in between. Has that been an issue that the dishwasher is a couple of steps further away, and was there a specific reason for placing it there? Thanks! Amanda's Smart, Renovated Kitchen Kitchen Tour |

I use the PepperMate mill whenever I need a teaspoon or more. It works really well. I first saw it used by Ina Garten on The Barefoot Contessa. Video: Super-Charge Your Pepper Grinder |

Excellent article. Thank you! Since I live in California and mostly know this state's wines and the main varietals, I can't express any opinions on the difference between New World and Old World wines. But I would love to learn more about the differences between the characteristics of certain grapes. For example, I know that Burgundy is made from the Pinot Noir grape. But how does that differ from California (or even Oregon or other regions) Pinot Noir. Your Sauvignon Blanc example was a great illustration of this. Ina Garten has used this on her shows. I have it, too, and love to use it when a recipe calls for a large amount of pepper. It's much faster than using a regular pepper grinder. PepperMate Pepper Mill Daily Find |

How about the Silver Palate Chicken Marbella? You can make it ahead and serve it at room temperature. I've never served it that way, only hot out of the oven, but the chicken is very tasty. What Would Be a Good Entree for a Progressive Dinner? Good Question |

Thank you so much for both the Art Deco and Art Nouveau articles. I especially enjoyed learning how the Deco style emerged from the Nouveau style, and also the differences within the Deco style. The pictures are a great help, as well. Thank you doing all this research and hard work! Quick History: Art Deco |

This is very helpful, thank you! Also, I second bepsf's request for a post on Art Deco. I "think" I like Art Deco, but I'm never sure that I'm using the correct term. Also, I think there are different styles of Art Deco? Thanks! Design Glossary: Chairs Retrospect |
